It's hard to pick the "best" from a technical point of view, but these three have always been among my favorites:

PETER FRAMPTON -- "Do You Feel Like We Do" (from Frampton Comes Alive!) .......... the solo near the end of the song.

DANNY CEDRONE -- "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets

JOE PERRY -- "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith

... but those are just the tip of the iceberg -- many, many great solos have been created through the years (but where are they now ???)

My favorite solo is from Blackened by Metallica. Awesome solo. Other than that, any Joe Satriani or Steve Vai.

what do yall think is the best guitar solo ever? I gotta go with the one from "Sweet Child of Mine." no one used the wah like Slash, and it fits the song so perfectly.
bleedsbluengold24
Could have been the one my son just played on his new Fender. Course, I may be a little biased.

I saw Joe Walsh do Turn to Stone with the Eagles a couple of years ago at the AAC in Dallas. He absolutely stole the show. We were obviously in the presence of greatness. It was magic.

i gotta go with slash on "sweet child o' mine". that solo is freak'n great. to put some new school in the mix i would say senister's ( avenged sevenfold ) solo in "sieze the day" is pretty good for a newer band in a day with fewer and fewer good solos.

Yeah!! I'm glad someone else likes the ill-remembered arena rock!

I have many favorite solos because usually they come from songs with two or three awesome solos. Pink Floyd's come to mind, but I'm a floyd homer..!

What kinda Fender??
bleedsbluengold24
For Christmas, we got him a Fender acoustic Sunburst with the cutout and a pick-up.

This is a dad thing, but lately, I am especially enjoying listening to him play. This computer is in a small office on the landing at the top of our stairs. His room is adjacent. Seems like everytime I'm on the computer now, he's in his room playing Stevie, Jimi, Lynerd, etc. Sometimes he's on one of his Fender electrics or his Les Paul.

He has recently learced Sonho Dourado, the soulful tune from Friday Night Lights. It's one of those songs that everytime I hear it now, I think of him. This is no doubt magnified by the fact he'll be leaving for college in the fall and going a long way off.
