Who has Nac beaten this year to get into the top 25 rankings? Is this mainly based on how you did last year? They lost a lot of good seniors, so just curious as to who they have beaten this year.

Austin Lake Travis is no. 3. I played against there no. 3 boy while I was in Abilene. He is a hoss. Compare him to Andy Cariens from Levelland. He just goes for broke and connects all the time. Talk about some talent in the Austin area.

The community I am impressed with is Wichita Falls with the #3 & #5 teams. They consistently play good tennis. With respect to Lake Travis, if I lived at Lakeway World of Tennis, I might be a good tennis player. I would also like to see the permanent zip codes on New Braunfels.

I really liked Lakeway World of Tennis but a lot of coaches, such as Coach Watson, don't like it at all. I don't understand why. In fact, I heard that they were trying to find another location instead of Lakeway for the state tournament (not this year but in the future). I think as a spectater I'd rather be at Lakeway than at Pennick-Allison at UT where you only have good views of 4 or so stadium courts.
But yes, Lake Travis and Austin Westlake (both in that area) have very impressive teams (and impressive neighborhoods!).

I played in Austin at Austin Tennis Academy, and its not all that is cracked up to be. They have a kid, Jeoffery Offerdall, who was like 12 at the time and he was hoss. But at the Academy they have had a kid go to Notre Dame then transfer to Boise State, and a kid go to Penn state. So the program used to be really good. And coach Newman is hilarious, he has some quirks, but a nice man. I have no clue what Lakeway world of Tennis is but they must have a really good program to be churning out players like the no. 3 from Lake Travis.

I have never talked to coach Watson on the subject as no one other than HP was gone to State Team tennis since Texas High dropped to 4A and the spring state tourney is at Pennick-Allison courts. But if I were to guess the issue has nothing to do with the courts but rather convinence and affordibility. Lakeway is not the home of the Hampton Inn or Comfort Suites. Most districts cannot afford to stay at Lakeway and I am sure it is a difficult drive for a 9am match.
Just my guess.

4A will play at Lakeway this year at spring state.
And I loved the bed and breakfast we stayed in on Lake Travis, but your right, it probably killed our budget to stay there. My parent's though stayed at the nearest hotel...9 miles from the tennis courts.

I am sure it was not an easy 9 mile drive for your folks.
