Still think they're not picking on the Gibbs team? Seems pretty obvious to me. When is the last time this severe a penalty has been levied on a team?

I wonder now that is tough.

I'm just saying.
This is the logic in my mind, and I will admit going in it may be flawed.
NASCAR is made up of guys who got where they are driving American made cars. Gibbs' Toyotas come in, and beat the crap out of everything on the track, so the good ol' boys decide they can't let the American-mades consistantly lose to the Japanese-mades. So they start looking at them with increased scrutiny.
Every team cheats a little. But with the increased scrutiny, when they finally catch the Gibbs team cheating, they lower the boom on them.
I'm not sure actually how much difference the shims made, but I'm thinking not enough to warrant this type of penalty.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

So... did they fail the dyno test after the shims were removed!?

I knew it would be bad , but WOW! I guess their trying to make a point. Don't muck around with the car.

i'm not much into nascar but lots of my dealers are so i keep up with it some. i've met joe gibbs and he's a great guy, but it's not showfriends, it's show business. i agree with bleeds about the toyota thing, the good ole boys don't like those rice burners kickin their butts. man these are some heavy penalties.

No, I don't, bleeds. Do the crime, pay the fine. There has to be precedents. Unfortunately it involved Gibbs racing, this time.
