Leatherheads
Actually, the inspiration for the Leatherheads story came from John McNally (aka Johnny Blood). He played briefly for the Packers during the 30s. At least that's what I heard this week from a tour guide at Lambeau Field. Who knows if those Green Bay people can be trusted though (lol). They're not exactly thinking straight these days.

My mistake !
I can't find any information about an Ernie Nevers movie . . .
It is good to know that people will gradually learn that football was played at a high level prior to Super Bowl I !!

Brad, could you be talking about Ernie Davis, the 1st African-American to win the Heisman? If so, that movie is The Express and is due out October 3rd.

No worries Cheap.....was kind of surprised this info slipped by you. You seem to be the resident king of trivia (lol).
The production notes from the movie's website did mention that they wanted the characters to be as "rich" as Red Grange and Ernie Nevers.

I finally found time to watch The Express ... talk about artistic licensing !
Incorrect game scores, yearly opponents, false accounts of racial incidents & team solidarity ... a true disappointment.
