josh howard used to be my favorite dallas maverick...now i wish they would just cut him...can't stand the guy.
SL1KK
Right, just cut him, as if he hasn't done enough stupid things already.. If he just woulda kept his mouth shut, not everyone sings along with the anthem, but we have enough respect to remain quiet.. He said the stupid thing, but everyone else was being just as disrestpectful.. Come on, the camera man was walking around doing interviews..

I think they should take everything American away from Howard, starting with the money that has our countries name stamped on it !! Let him live off Pesos !!

Steveo the bad thing is that some other team would pick him up. Bottom line he is just a strait out idiot and should not even to have the previlage to play ball in the USA.
CAPTTIGER
Trade his butt to a team in Russia, Greece or China.......but only after American fans have had the chance to boo him.
Bballer073001
Man I really hate that he did this. I know we all have the right to say things but when the anthem is playing we all need to show more respect. But i noticed during the video that alot of the others where talking during it they just didnt say what Howard did

so because he's black he doesn't support the U.S. national anthem? he looked about half stoned anyway. obama in 08? beautiful. more good press for the dims. as far as this idiot goes, since he doesn't support our country it seems, let him live somewhere else and see how he likes it when the cash runs out.

This is the national unity Barry Hussein and his followers have been preaching at us for two years. You have a group of people who believe they don't owe allegiance to America based on nothing but their skin color.

There has been talk of a race war if Sen. McCain is elected. This has been Barry's plan all along. His first job was to go into poor black neighborhoods, stir them up with claims their condition was due to the white man, and then promise them the world in order to support a particular cause. This is no different. He has convinced (with absolutely no effort) blacks they are not a part of America and are all victims, and so they should rebel.

Josh Howard is a straight walking idiot. He is most unappreciative of what this country has done for him in terms of his opportunities and his freedom. I applaud the organization for taking steps to remedy his lack of appreciation, but the fact still remains, he has demonstrated that he, even though he is a millionairre, has a sense of entitlement, not unlike the millions of those who sit and draw a welfare check and blame "the man" for their condition.

Just goes to show you, stupidity and lack of appreciation is not bound by socio-economic lines.
Bballer073001
bleeds you are so right about the racial war that will happen if obama does not win.
mrknowitall
Howard makes me sick. I've got friends in Iraq and some are black. It's scary that someone so stupid can be so rich and have so much power, and believe me money is power in this country. The Mavs need to get rid of Howard, preferrably a trade, but get rid of him.

Never happen. This is liberal pandering stirred to turn this into a racial thing. Obama believes he can guilt or scare the American electorate into voting for him. This is all liberal rhetoric.

See, for a race war to happen, black America will have to have organized leaders. The so-called black leaders in this country are too busy worrying about playing an angle by which they can come out financially ahead to worry about what it actually good for their people and more importantly, America (those two are generally mutually exclusive). Black leaders in America lie to their people, and their people believe them. That may work in the world of entitlements, but it will never, EVER work in war.

Clearly defined goals, objectives, and strategies must be defined. The black leades in this country would be too busy fighting amongst themselves to see who would be the ultimate leader to ever come together long enough to reach those objectives.

No race war. Just liberal rhetoric to that effect. Scare tactics at best.

Ah yes, the politics of fear.

If I may, there is a verse in the Bible that says "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God"
Philippians 4:6

Translated: Worry over nothing. Pray over everything.

That'll ease some anxiety.

That's because he's always stoned. Most rope smokers are mellow.

Ask any law enforcement official, they'd rather deal with a cheeva burner than a drunk any day.

As far as the topic: Get rid of him asap.

I'm with you huck. Anytime a player demostrates anti-American tendancies, he is a liability to the team and can lead to a PR nightmare.

Check out what Stephen Smith from ESPN says (who I might add is Black) about Josh Howard.

"Once upon a time, Howard was considered quiet and timid. It was only after the checks got cashed and his future was secured did Howard reportedly once reveal: "I think like a Democrat but because of my tax bracket, I'm a Republican."
One could easily ask just how such a statement benefits anyone other than himself. Then again, that would be an exercise in futility. After all, to ask would be to presume Howard cares.
Since he opened his mouth, we know better."

When yall wake up on 9/20 go buy a Dallas news and read the sports page. THe article that the great (NOT) Jtaylor wrote about how Mark Cuban outed people who wrote to him about Josh Howard.

Guys, I've got a side story to this whole Josh Howard fallout that has little to do with Howard himself. The Dallas Morning News allows people to write in or e-mail in their thoughts on certain topics. DMN then picks a select few and prints them in the paper, and they have one of these write-ins in today's paper, Sunday, 9-21-08. The topic is Josh Howard, and the DMN usually puts opposing opinions in the paper from people around the world, but mainly within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

There was a person in Carrolton, TX, who wrote the following with her title or their made up title being "Back off Josh:"

Josh Howard, just like any other American citizen, reserves the right to not celebrate this song or any other. Quite frankly, your oh-so-"special" "Star-Spangled Banner" was written to the tune of a popular British drinking song, so while you're throwing out negative remarks about Mr. Howard, please be aware that you might as well be celebrating alcoholism.

Next, Mr. Howard has apologized repeatedly for his remarks regarding drug use, so let it go. I mean, hey, our very own president is a known alcoholic, but you're not writing about that everyday, are you? People make mistakes, but the fact is he learned from it and is trying to move on.

Finally, regarding the U.S. Olympic team: What is more important, showing off your talent on a world stage in an attempt to prove America is better than every other country, or actually going out into the community and helping the youth of America realize anything is possible? Howard does not owe-anyone an apology for serving as a positive role model and choosing a hands-on approach youth can appreciate.

Guys, my reasoning in writing down that entire statement by the idiot who is obviously from another country and absolutely hates our nation even though she lives here is, I would like to point out The Dallas Morning News should not allow opinions like that to be printed in their paper, EVER! I can't believe they printed it instead of seeing it and throwing it out of consideration to be added to the paper. It's embarrassing to the paper, and infuriates me as an American. I HATE, yes hate instead of highly dislike, the fact that people living within our borders like this goon in Carrolton are in fact in our country. She says he has a right to not celebrate that blank as "Mr. Howard" put it. Sure he has that right, but I can't comprehend or understand how you can say something like that (speaking of Howard's comments) about our national anthem without selling your home and moving to one of the many, many countries around the world that hate us and never stepping foot on American soil again.

I wish this person who wrote this garbage to DMN would leave too. I don't understand people who hate our country yet they live here. If you don't like it, freaking leave!

Anyhow, if y'all agree with me I'd like you to contact the Dallas Morning News and tell them you don't approve of them putting this trash in their paper. I understand they want to have different views on these subjects from people in everyday life, but to print this is just not a good move. You can e-mail your thoughts to DMN by sending to dmnsports@dallasnews.com

You're barking up the wrong tree here, Cat. The DMN should be commended for printing this letter. It is their responsibility for printing differing opinions in the Letters to the Editor section. That's what this section is for. Now, if this lady wants to make a fool out of herself by signing that letter and having it printed in a major metro newspaper, that is her problem. She is obviously either a racist, black apologist or some relative of JoHo, or both. Either way, I say ship her and JoHo on the first plane to a third-world, communist country and see how they like it there. But, don't blame the DMN. They probably put this letter in the paper because it was so outrageous.
