TKG going playoffs...looking well. Returning starters Nick Brunson(6'2), Stephen Ray(6'7), Alex Fergerson(6'0), Riley Floyd(6'3), and now Casey Allare(5'11) as the fifth man.

Nick Brunson avging last season-12 pts, 10 rebs, and 5 assists a game. Has made much improvement this summer athletic wise.

Stephen Ray avging last season- 10 pts, 10 rebs, and close to 6 blocks a game, is looking smooth as his game is progressing.

Other varsity players have made leaps and bounds this summer. Should be a great team.

better watch out for eric carter as the sleeper. he had a pretty good year last year on jv and has improved his level of play since. he also has a tendency of becoming very blurry while playing

Gorman does have a good starting five, I will definately agree with yall on that. But I think depth is the only problem for yall. TCCH are the returning 4A state Champs. Even though they graduated quite a few key players, their coach has said they are going for a repeat. Dallas Christian is going to be ok, Corey Brooks is always going to have his good numbers, but this team will be fighting for a playoff spot. Parish Episcopal, 6'8 Javier Carter is a DI prospect, if they could ever get people around him they would be good. But this team is also shooting for that last playoff spot. First Baptist is going to be real bad. Best Player Sean Blanchard (07-08 District Offensive MVP) has transfered to a school in Arkansas. And they really never had anyone besides him. Tyler Grace is looking for a good district run, they are looking for the district title, but I can see Grace, TCCH, and TKG being contenders for that. Grace is not returning alot of varsity players, but had a good JV team last year and are moving alot of players up. I just recently looked at Grace's schedule and it looks like Grace and Gorman will have an early district preview at the All Saints Invitational, where these 2 teams will most likely meet in the Championship game.

this goes by records last year. Biggest threat for tkg is TCCH, with a determined hardworking team tkg has, i dont think winning district is out of question.

It actually goes by returning district honored players, returning starters/varsity athletes, not by last years records. If it was TCCH had something like 31-5 record and grace had a 19-13 record. But I don't how well yalls zones can defend TCCHs athletes. But like I said earlier, its going to be a fight for 1st between Grace, Gorman, and TCCH.

I will definately agree with you again on this, the Dallas coaches really had something against the Tyler schools. If I remember right Miles Kemp was the only TKG player to be honored. We all know Ray should have gotten 2nd Team and maby even Fergueson/Brunson. I believe Lutheran had 4 players and should have only had 2. Grace had 4, 1st Team - Sr Tucker Glaske. 2nd Team - Sr Shannen Smith, So Erik DeRoo, Jr Kyle Childress.

Has TKG released their schedule yet?

I agree with the childress and ofcourse tucker. But erik deroo and shannen smith were not impact players in the district and im not sure if tkg has released there schedule yet.

Ha DeRoo dropped 15 in the first game against TKG and 13 in the 2nd. He was one of the better or the best 6th man in district. But I can see how your arguement is that he is only a 'shooter'. As of last season, that was his role on the team, but if you haven't seen him play recently, he has really matured as a player. Alot of summer workouts/camps seemed to help him. Grace's team played in a few AAU tourneys in Dallas and Erik was putting up a few 30 point games and averaging a good high 20s. Once he finally got his drive to the basket down, he finally became a full offensive threat. Shannen had his ups and downs through the season, but scoring and assists were pretty consistent. But it really doesn't matter it already happened and we can't change it. If we could I would keep Grace's picks cause the cougars did get 2nd in District, but I would give TKG Ray and Fergueson.
Grace has not officially released theirs either, the coaches are still confirming some games...

This is Fact... The two district games between Grace and Gorman will be hosted at TJC's Wagstaff Gymnasium. This brings back the old memories, when these two teams brought over a thousand fans to a basketball game. Back in the Day this game was standing room only at TJC. So I like it like this, both these teams have the potential to be very good. And for the players it should be a great time to play infront of so many people.

That would be exciting, I might need to mention that to our AD. They did that a few years back when these two teams played at TKG. ABC covered the entire game and was shown throughout the east texas area.

How do you know that both games will be played at Wagstaff? Not doubting you, I am just suprised.

Well the last two years the games have been played at the High Schools. And they were consistently being packed to the max. So the coaches talked and decided it would be better to play at TJC.

It should be packed and a lot of fun. I saw both teams play yesterday at the All-Saints tournament and, of course, they will be battling for the championship. Any thoughts on the outcome?

I doubt this game will be at TJC but one could only hope... and TK Gorman won the championship of the Brookeshires classic, despite a bad played game. All tournaments went to Alex fergerson and Stephen Ray from gorman.

Actually I believe, the playing at TJC has already been arranged by the coaches. On Grace's schedule, under the location of the game instead of Home or @ TKG it says TJC.

And Congrats on the Tournament Victory, yall played three great games. Opening up with the Game Winning Shot, then the Crazy one-point win over Katy West, who ended with 3 which was funny to me, and then the Final over Grace by 4.

Grace had 2 big margin wins over Houston St. Thomas Episc. and All Saints. But it didnt look like Grace came to play right away vs TKG. I wish the game would have gone smoother... Way too many fouls for both teams, I believe Ray and Brunson had to sit almost the whole 3rd qtr. and Steele, Broderhausen and DeRoo for Grace were in and out alot in the 3rd and 4th trying to keep from fouling out. But TKG won, congrats and good luck through the year. Cant wait to see yall again.
