I've never been a fan of this "chase" garbage. I hated it when it was implimented a few years back, and I still can't stand it. I've recently found a new reason to hate this joke of a system. THE OLD POINTS SYSTEM RACE WAS CLOSER!!!!! The system which was done away with to make the points race "tighter" was tighter than what we currently have. Anyone else think this is interesting.

dang. i was pulling for Carl to win it this year. But it seems near impossible for anyone else to win The Sprint Chase for The Jimmie Johnson Cup.

You know, as a Jimmie fan, I can't really complain about the Chase format. But I will admit that I liked the old way better.

You really can't compare the two systems side by side--unless you assume that all drivers are attempting to win every race. If you have a 400 point lead, you probably race differently than you would with a 12 point lead. Jimmy might have settled for 16th in a chase race when he could have finished 12th if he pushed it--so it's useless information in hindsight.

If they want it closer, the chase drivers need to be on a 12 point system--with significant incentives for winning races. Carl Edwards indeed got screwed this year!
