Does any schools have a pep band that plays at basketball home games?
I know they do in colleges, but what about high school. Thoughts or opinons.

Most Districts have a rule that forbids bands performing during the basketball game.

I know we dont, and if u have ever heard the cayuga band the you'll know why.
Our school does not. It is a decision that is up to the band director. Creating it is also up to the band director. The students have just worked their hearts out during marching season and are about to do it again with solo and ensemble as well as concert and sight-reading contest. (Not to mention that they are prepring for a Christmas concert and parade at this time of year.) A lot of people in the communities do not realize that just because the band students are not doing public performances contantly doesn't mean that they are not behind the scenes working for their next performance. A basketball band just adds more music to what they are already trying to perfect and it is just too big of a load to worry about. The students grades come first. Creating a basketball band takes away from the number one reason for being in school.

I think playing for basketball games would be rather interesting. Never really heard of many bands doing it thought. I know Pittsburg's bands played at some of their basketball games in 2007. The crowd rather enjoyed it.

No i've never really heard of any schools having a pep band for basketball. That would waste a lot of your time that you need to be focusing on concert season.

I don't think that it would take away from concert season. Because the games are not during school hours and some band students would like to get in the game for free. Even if it were a jazz band it might boost team and school spirit!

I know some schools do. Rusk had their band at last week's game against Carthage. When I was in high school, we had a basketball band, as well.
You don't see it as often anymore, but it does happen in some places.
