Boys D 29
Pittsburg
Pleasant Grove
Wildcats
I'm sure Abilene Wylie made it. Probably boys and girls.
Wildcats
BTW, Congrats go out to all of you but especially Coach Glaser. He's been with that program since I was in Central Texas. They've come a long way and I know this experience will help further spark that program, as it will all of us 1st timers!

An interesting spin might be to make note of the 1st time 3A playoff teams also. In the above list I know for sure Kennedale, Prosper and Lorena are all 1st time teams.

What about Paris and Paris North Lamar?? Does anyone know how these teams ended up in their district race?
Wildcats
1st - Paris North Lamar
2nd - Greenville
3rd - Paris
4th - Sulphur Springs

Don't believe that is the correct order. Pretty sure it was Greenville, SS, NL and Paris.

maybe wildcat was talking about girls

Sorry! That was the girls order. I'm not sure about the boys standings.

Prosper lost tonight in their playoff match against Frisco Wakeland. They were tied 0-0 at the half, but ultimately went down 2-0. The Lady Eagles played well, look for them to make some noise, now that they've gotten their feet wet!!!

Good Luck to Wakeland!!!

Coach Beck and the Prosper Lady Eagles,

Congrats on your season and what sounds like a good showing against a top notch team in your first ever playoff game. You've laid out a great foundation to build on. Good luck in 2010!

Kaufman Ladies Area Game...Tuesday...6:00pm...vs Highland Park...at JJ Pearce Stadium

Kaufman Men Area Game...Tuesday...8:00pm...vs JJ Pearce...at JJ Pearce Stadium

Kaufman's varsity coach does both boys and girls...what an accomplishment to take both of these 3A teams to the playoffs, and work it out to where they play back-to-back games...good luck Kaufman.
toohottohandle
looks like after this area game the coach will not have to worry about back to back games. tough opponents

The Kennedale Lady Kat season came to an end tonight. The Lady Kats were defeated by Fort Worth Arlington Heights 1-0. The girls finished 19-4-4 overall. We lose 3 seniors and with a little luck and a lot of hard work we will be back next year fighting to build to that foundation we laid this year. Good Luck to everyone still playing.

You are both correct. First one was Girls results, second was Boys results.
Sandman
Going into the regional quarterfinals of the playoffs, there is one 3A boys team left (Hidalgo) and no 3A girls teams left.

Only one playoff game (boys or girls) featured two 3A teams playing each other (Palestine vs Lorena girls)

3A boys record so far in the tournament 3-22, they have been outscored 23-92 which averages to 0.9 - 3.7 a game.

3A girls record in the tournament was 5-25, they have been outscored 25-106 which averages to 0.8 – 3.5 a game.

Of the 23 3A boys teams to make the playoffs, 21 were one and done.

Of the 25 3A girls teams to make the playoffs, 19 were one and done.

Of the 23 3A boys teams to make the playoffs, there was one district champ (Abilene Wylie), one district runner-up (Burkburnett), 8 third place teams, and 13 fourth place teams.

Of the 25 3A girls teams to make the playoffs, there were three district champs (Abilene Wylie, Paris North Lamar, Bandera), two district runner-ups (Palestine, Jasper), 7 third place teams, and 13 fourth place teams.

WE NEED 3A SOCCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SamsArmy
There were two 3A schools that made state a couple of years ago...Palestine and Hidalgo, right? Palestine lost to Frisco 7-1 in the Semis and Hidalgo lost in a shootout to eventual champs Wichita Falls Rider.

Do you have to remind me of the butt kicking.....LOL Well, at least we made it and then we choked but what an experience.

Lets look at the "big picture" though. WE NEED 3A SOCCER!!! Be nice to know every year you have a shot to make it state instead of a lucky run like in 2007. Give these 3A schools like Kaufman a fair chance!!

I completely agree..Tell me if this makes sense:
296 Teams in 4A soccer
184 of them make playoffs
18 ghost districts across 4A (46 districts and 33 of them have 6 teams or less?? 67% make playoffs?)
Have to win 8 playoff games to win state

Adding 3A would benefit 4A teams as well. Hopefully it would go back to 32 districts with more than 6 teams and no ghost districts.
junhun
Heck I'm definately for 3a soccer. If they had their own district
we wouldn't have to worry about Palestine every year. LOL
SOCCERBUFF
LOL......too funny junhun

I remember my first time we played Jax when I got here (8-0) laugher by Jax. Now it is a battle every time. We will have to put you guys on our preseason schedule to keep the excitement going. thumbsup.gif

I would trade more travel for a level playing field of only 3A teams. As parents, we are going to be there, regardless. As a school, they travel farther in other sports in many cases. It would be their choice, but I would hope they see the parity as a plus over increeased travel.
rednblack
3A soccer makes sense competitively. Not many 3A teams made the playoffs and the majority that did were 4th place (new this year). I saw a fair number of rather brutal scores involving 3A vs. 4A (in the regular season and even in the playoffs). There is absolutely no enjoyment being on either side of those games. Strong 3A teams deserve an opportunity to make a deep playoff run, not just go one and done. All teams deserve the opportunity to at least compete in district and possibly make the playoffs.

On the practical side, 3A soccer may have some challenges with travel distances (cost, late nights for students). This may not be a major issue in East Texas, but might get worse as you move west. Still, they could be overcome. Parents might have to shoulder more of the cost. District teams might have to play at neutral sites instead of home and home. I don't know how many 3A schools currently play soccer, but I think the number would increase rapidly if 3A was a separate division.

And on a separate note, maybe 4A needs to go back to 3 teams per district in the playoffs and eliminate all those silly byes.
Wildcats
Adding a 3A division would no doubt bring in more 3A schools in a short amount of time AND add a few 2A schools. Once they decide to add 3A the 4A division will go back to 32 districts but my guess is that they will keep the 4 teams in the playoffs. Going back to 32 districts will eliminate the byes and it would create districts of 6-8 teams but made up of only 4A. I think most districts would have closer to 8 teams so the 4 teams advancing wouldn't be a big deal.

Travel would really only be an issue out in West Texas. Those schools would more than likely opt to play up in 4A due to travel costs until more 3A schools out there added soccer. Just my opinions
