Full Version: What is up with Ammunition!

I heard rumor of a Tax on ammunition. I noticed some of the prices going sky high! Any comments of what you guys/gals have seen. Why would there be a high tax other than to make it harder to own a gun or protect our rights. Getting frustrated here, someone please tell me this isn't happening and its all not just a bunch of monkeydung going around.

Sorry dude, but the fact is that it is happening and will only get worse. It's a simple matter of supply and demand. People are afraid the Obaminator is going to pass through more gun control legislation, so they are stocking up. You add the skyrocketing cost of metals to the surge in demand, and you get high prices and scarcity. Simple economics.

The only thing you can do about it is vote out the scumbag next time around.

Hear Hear. I'm sure the Dimocraps are coming up with a tax on top of that. There going to make it where it costs more to put venison on your table than a rib eye steak. In addition to that, they are going to make sure that you can not protect yourself against enemies both foreign and DOMESTIC.

I'm pretty sure you nailed it about the inability to protect ourselves. I'm buying my ammunition every time I go to Academy or Gander Mountain. WalMart had none of mine in stock the other day and only about 8-10 boxes of miscellaneous ammunition this past weekend.

My ammo went up from 42 a box to 49.99 since Sept.

I bought 243 (95 gr) and 25-06 (117 gr) for $31 and $34 in Winchester ballistic silver tips last weekend at Academy. Wasn't looking so I don't know if they had any 7MM or not.

NEWSFLASH!!!!!! EVERYTHING is going up!!! Obama the the"GREAT" (sarcasm) does not help, but prices are going up everywhere!

Is ammo the new speculation goods? Gas hits the skids so supply and demand with some good old speculation slapped in there make the price balloon. Seriously, I think it is supply and demand with everyone scared out of their heads about where our nation is headed with Obama the savior socialist at the wheel.

As far as everything going up... good thing the democrats raised the minimum wage... minimum wage earners can afford more... ah... wait... no they can't because the cost of living went up and the wage increase was one of the factors.

Ha! good one! Anyways, if you went to the gunshow this past weekend you may have noticed all the ammunition they were selling. Well it appears that many are buying the blocks of ammunition and then selling it to you and nearly doubling their money. It was a bold move that paid off. Several made a lot of money off of the show. So no wonder we can't find ammunition. These people are slick. (I really can't blame them for trying to make a living) But heck it sure does hurt my pocket book when I try to load up. Times are getting hard for everyone. I just wanted to let you guys know another reason why we can't seem to find the ammo we want. And yes Supply and demand, and the fact that they have had to fire up the factories in over drive doesn't help.

bigdawg16
No...he is not kidding ! As sad as that is... I have not looked into it...but has reload supplies went up as much as ammo?
Medman7
It is still cheaper to reload right now but you cannot hardly find any empty brass anywhere to reload! You used to could find it anywhere and buy plenty of it but not any more.

You're right. I have always saved all my .270 Weatherby Mag brass, and have a friend reload for me. He does good work and it saves me some money. I do have about 1000 .40 cal 165 gr. reloads, so it stuff ever hits the fan and you have a .40 come on over and we should be able to hold em off for a while. thumbsup.gif

I think I just earned myself a spot on the terror watch list. rolleyes.gif

The price and scarcity of ammo has alot to do with demand alot of people are stock piling due to fear of gun contol from democratric contoled washington. new approach of anti gun lobby What good isa gun with out ammo ALSO the proposed policee of Defence Department of milatery brass now has to be destroyed and turned to scrap and not sold to ammo makers for reload forcing manufacter to use new brass .alot more costly
