dallas has quality players on the bench...terry and bass need to have a huge series and i think dallas will need some good defense down low from ryan hollins off the bench. guys like howard and...i can't believe i'm saying this, but erik dampier are showing they are a different team at this point in the season.
in 3 games this year, denver beat dallas in 3 close games. but then again denver looks like a totally different team right now also. this will be a good series.

Dallas has gotten great play from their bench in this years playoffs. Also, in the losses to Denver in the regular season Josh Howard was out and didn't play. He's proven to be a big part against the Spurs in round 1.
Denver did look good but look at what they were going against. Basically Chris Paul and David West. New Orleans limped into the playoffs and got drubbed.

dallas does seem like a different team with howard...SA was so focused on blanketting dirk, it gave a huge chance for other players to shine, and they did...dallas made SA beat them with two players, and they could not do it.
the biggest difference between SA and Denver is the nuggets don't have any significant injuries. we will see how the mavs do against an upper seeded team at full strength.

Basically, all he was doing was giving credit to the many defenders that Denver has sent at him. Mainly Kenyon Martin and NeNe. Charles Barkely (ms) and Kenny Smith were upset because in their words you should never admit someone shut you down even if they did. It seems like to me they were hurting for material to discuss. Hope that answers your question?

I like Dirk he is surely going to be a Hall of Famer. He is just so soft and weak. With his size and range as a shooter he should lead the league in scoring every year. He also seems to take nights off and a real leader never does that. Dirk is at the peak of his career and still cannot defend. Players like him is why I enjoy the college game so much more.

May 9 2009, 09:47 PM
the refs blow a call in the waning moments of game 3, afterwards the league ADMITS they were wrong, "oops, sorry Dallas".....

the NBA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i really would have rather not heard the admission of fault by the league and just went on my merry way thinking (knowing) that there is a conspiracy against Cuban's Mavs than to hear out of their mouths that there was a VERY LIKELY game-altering mistake.
the officials have really ruined this year's postseason, for me at least. and i'm not simply referring to the Dallas games. all around the league it seems that the refs are having WAY TOO MUCH bearing on the outcome of games. my gf has been telling me for the longest time that the league is rigged, that it is all a setup, i'm starting to believe......

Absolutely disgraceful. I'm not a big Maverick fan because of Cuban, but there's no excuse for this. Yeah I know refs are human and all that, but you can't miss something that obvious. If the NBA is going to hold a grudge against Cuban forever, then just take the franchise away.
Just heard John Barry on ESPN explaining that it was the Mavericks fault because they didn't tell the refs ahead of time they were going to foul. HUH ???????????????????????? Why would any talking head say something that stupid even after the NBA admits it was their fault. If you don't believe in an anti-Dallas sentiment at ESPN then that is hard to explain.

May 10 2009, 09:03 AM
The officiating for the entire game was a joke. 61 fouls were called resulting in 89 free throws being shot, and yet they miss an intentional foul committed right in front of an official in the last seconds! Barry says that an NBA official has to be prompted to know that an intentional foul is a foul. Unbelievable ! Is there anyone besides me that cringes every time they see Bennett Salvatore calling a game?
NBA officiating is the reason so many people prefer to watch college basketball. Shouldn't the greatest players in the world be able to drive to the basket without traveling? Why should the so-called stars of the league get special treatment from the referees? If they are the best, why do they need preferred treatment? Every time NBA officials ignore rules to favor star players, they cheapen their product and lose more respect from true basketball fans.

This series is just pathetic. The game can't even go through each team getting a possession without a foul call. I don't even think either team is getting favored but its just painful to watch. As for the last call, I do not get why the refs did not call it. They knew what Wright was doing and they just ignored it. They called a lot of no touch fouls all game so the no-call baffles me. I think the Nuggets are the better team but these refs are killing this series.

I'm glad they didn't call that foul. When the rules of basketball were created, fouls were never meant to be used an alternative to playing defense. It flat out ruins close games at the end, by slowing them to a crawl. I always wished they would just call the foul like it is, AN INTENTIONAL FOUL, and give the other team the foul shots and the ball. That would end all of that fouling garbage at the end of games real quick.

i know the refs "reviewed" it in-game, but since NBA official competence is obviously at an all-time low the league higher-ups have to go back over everything after the fact. and if you don't think a suspension could happen, think back a couple weeks ago to Dwight Howard. but, the league is so wishy-washy right now.... oh well.

One call never costs somebody a game there are so many variables to look at such as missed free-throws, turn-overs and low shooting percentage.
