Randy Rogers Band will play the Electric Cowboy in Tyler May 20 according to their website.

They will be in Huntsville at the Jolly Fox this Thursday for a 3PM(?) show. Ah, the Jolly Fox; I haven't set foot in there since I moved from Huntsburg to Longview in 1981. If memory serves correctly, country acts were not welcome there back then.

Count me as being a bit disappointed in the RR Band's newest album. It's not bad but is a step down from "Just a Matter of Time" to me. On a couple of songs, he sounds like he is emulating that whiney, Tim McGraw style that I dislike intensely.

Cross Canadian Ragweed. Best band going right now.

I'm going to have to agree with this...

1. Casey Donahew
2. Whiskey Myers
3. Jamie Richards
4. Cody Riley Band
5. Brandon Rhyder

that is my top 5 right now, but there are many, many more great bands that are starting to make a name for themselves...
stoneykelly
jamie richard's drive cd is great. can play it all the way through. rek is in linden this saturday. anybody know what happened to bootlegger's in tyler? they had some good shows.

I'm a big Charlie Robison fan myself. Here in Nacogdoches, Texas Country is the only kind of music that comes. I like it but after I've seen Kevin Fowler, Cross, Stoney LaRue, Randy Rogers, and everyone else 10 times it gets kinda old.

Sounds like a good one. Texas music wouldn't be what it is without the "twang" of bluegrass and swing.

Everyone has heard this one, The Front Porch Song

http://www.last.fm/music/Robert+Earl+Keen/...ront+Porch+Song

Nice version from The Live Album. Another bluegrass like song along with the normal Keen story telling is the "Bluegrass Widow" off the same album, I mean CD.

Casey Donahew and The Eli Young Band.

Casey Donahew and The Eli Young Band. Lots of good Texas music artists. Good to see folks carrying on Texas tradition. My days have come and gone , I mean mingling with the pretty Texas gals in the dance halls throughout Central Texas. What a great state!

Willie Nelson should be declared the modern day Father Of Texas...about thirty years ago! No need to say much more about Willie except his version of Amazing Grace with sister Bobbie at piano made a believer of me. Great tune by Willie and a true gospel gem.

Just listening to Reckless Kelly, Seven Nights In Eire. Whoa, good Celtic tune like.

One more song for the Texas music archives by Cory Morrow.

Nashville Blues

here's to miss emmylou, the boys from oklahoma, "robert keen, robert keen". willie is as good as it gets. never have worked up the courage to go to one of his picnics. what the heck happened to cory morrow? he was as big as pat. guess the drug bust hurt him alot more than people thought.
hares
Robert Earl has some lyrics! I've seen him live a few times most notably at the Bass Hall! I lucked out
being there and of course REK was making some bucks on that venue. I could not pass a free pass so , hey,
it was something else , for anyone that likes REK! The band
did an acoustic at the end of the show and Robert Earl was taken in by the sound effects of this Bass Hall.

Wille Nelson. I saw Willie Nelson at the Rio Paslm Isle in Longview. I doubt that establishment is still there! (joking?)

I don't know anything about Cory Morrow's personal mistakes but I do like that CD he and Pat Green put out, Songs We Wish We Had Written.

Cory and Pat did a version of Waylon Jennings - Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way.

This was a unexpected find as the characters on this stage are those I recall:

you know i've been wondering what happened to the rio? if it was still open or had turned into a mexican club? there's a kid i went to school with at harmony who'll be opening up for roger creager at the electric cowboy this friday. curtis grimes - lonely river is the cd.
