PROGNOSTICATORS COME FORTH......WHAT DO YOU THINK?
I don't know much about Splendora. I see they were ranked 5th in the State in the last regular season coaches poll. I see they played the No. 1 5A team in the State and only lost 4-1. At this stage of the playoffs all the teams are good, so that goes without saying. I thought I saw they had two freshman pitchers. Anybody have any insight into the Splendora team.

Splendora does have two freshmen pitchers with one throwing harder than the other. I believe Silsbee scored 5 runs on them Tues nite so you can score on them but they'll be a good/hard hitting team as well. They have history and tradition of going deep in the playoffs each year and usually make it to the regional semi or final game. I believe Huntington has beat them out the last couple of years. In 2006 I believe Splendora beat Huntington. So that said they will be tough and seasoned team with maybe just a tad of youth at pitching.
I'd attack them in the same manner as game 1 against Carthage and Tues nite against Rusk. Very likely they haven't seen that kind of speed. Just put the ball in the dirt and run. If any team has faster no. 2 and no. 3 hitters, I like to see them!

Good Luck to Spring Hill From Van. If we are lucky enough to make it down south, we would like to see ya'll there too. You never know in Softball whats going to happen though. Take it home for East Texas - Region III.

sprtsfaaaan: Good Luck to Van as well.......(Not that you need it). I hope Van continues its great run. Haven't see the girls play this year, but obviously an awesome team. I would be really cool if both SH and Van could continue their winning ways and met in the State Championship. For now, I just hope our girls can put it all together and get past Splendora this weekend. Again, good luck against Prosper.

You can't beat good teams this deep in the playoffs if you make errors. I think the official scorebook will reflect 5 errors made by the SH defense. I counted 7. Either way, you are not going to beat a team like Splendora playing defense that poorly. SH played defense in this game the way they did in the two losses to Bullard. SH down 1-0 going into the top of 6. With one out Shannon Sanders hits a solo HR. SH then loads the bases with their two speedsters on 2nd and 3rd with a good stick at the plate, and allow the third base runner to get thrown out by the catcher. Then the hitter grounds out to end the inning. That was a huge point in this game. It was then in the bottom of the 6th when the defensive wheels fell off for SH. I am optimistic SH will come back and have a great day today. Splendora is good and play sound softball, but very beatable. Keep your heads up SH, and have a big day today.

Game 3 absolutely the most exciting softball game i remember seeing. Splendora up 4-0 going to top of 5. SH eeks out 2 runs in 5th. Steals 1 more in the top of 6th to make it 4-3 going into the top of 7th with their 6, 7 and 8 batters coming up. First two batters get out. Fudge gets infield hit. Bernaldez takes pitcher to a full count. Splendora is 1 strike away from winning. Bernaldez fouls off two and then draws the walk. Top of the order comes up with Sanders. Intentional walk to her (as she has hit two dingers in the series). Campbell gets an infield hit (speed) scoring Fudge from 3rd and Bernaldez from second who was able to knock the ball loose from the Splendora catcher, to put SH up 5-4 with Sanders on third and Campbell on 2nd. Williams knocks one over center fielder's head scoring two and getting thrown out at third attempting to stretch it into a triple, to go up 7-4. All of this with two outs. SH makes a throwing error in bottom of 7th and Splendora gets a hit or two to score 1 run, but then Williams gets the third out on a ground ball back to her to end the game. SH 7 Splendora 5. An awesome game to watch.
GOOD LUCK LADY PANTHERS AGAINST HUNTINGTON.

We (Liberty Eylau) played Huntington last year at state. They have what it takes - pitching, offense, and defense. They play smart softball. I think what is most important against Huntington is your batters' pitch recognition - they threw a lot on the edge of outside and got us swinging, plus those are the pitches that can and will be called strikes if they're close enough. Be smart, swing at what you can hit, and leave the other stuff alone. Good luck!
