SOFTBALL: Elysian Fields 5, Warren 2

POLLOK — Blair Hickey earned her 29th pitching win of the season, and Ashley Quintana drove in two runs to pace the offense as Elysian Fields opened a Class 2A regional semifinal best-of-three series with a 5-2 win over Warren.

Hickey (29-8) struck out seven, walked none and allowed just three hits as Elysian Fields improved to 31-9 on the year. The series resumes today at 4 p.m. back in Pollok.

Quintana was 2-for-4 with two RBI, and Lacy Liles and Cheryl Boyette both added two hits for Elysian Fields. Liles also scored twice and stole three bases.

Enjoyed coming to Central to see this game. Today, my mom, brother, and I have hit 6 different highways just to see two ballgames. Left Nacogdoches, went up 259 to Henderson, took 79 thru town, until we came up on 64 back toward Tyler , and after returning to Nac, took 7 to 69 up to Central, and back to Alto and finally hit El Camnio Real or Hwy 21 back to Nacogdoches. What a day!!!!

Congrats to both sets of Ladyjackets, and maybe both teams can punch their tickets to Austin next week, and take the city by a swarm of ladies...

Great game, Hats off to Warren who played all out to the very end. Lady Jackets up 2-0 going into the top of the 7th and with 2 outs Warren put 2 runs on the board to knot it all up 2-2. No score by EF in the bottom of the 7th, no score by Warren top of the 8th...........then BAM bottom of the 8th EF's Jordan Simmons drives a shot into the left field corner for a 3 bag TRIPLE next batter EF's Cheryl Boyett RIPS a shot between right and center to bring Simmons home for the winning run...........WHAT A GAME.

*If I'm not mistaken EF's Blair Hickey only walked 1 batter in the entire series *
