Should be an great matchup with a great defensive team in Huntington vs. great offensive team in Spring Hill. If Spring Hill scores 3 or more runs than they have a good shot of winning. However, SH also beat Carthage in a 1 -0 in 3rd game pitching duel as well so that kinda blows my 3 run theory. Another key will be can SH eliminate errors, to beat Huntington you have to play error free ball. Another thing to watch will Huntington pitch to Sanders, SH #1 hitter. Splendora started out pitching to her then after two dingers they started walking her. The only problem with that stategy is it's dangerous to put her on with Campbell and Williams coming to the plate. Another key can SH continue to generate infield hits with their speed. 5 of 9 hits vs Rusk were infield hits. Don't know how many SH got against Splendora but I assume in games 2 and 3 they got several. Against Carthage in game one only 2 hits found the grass in a 5-2 win....so if this trend continues it's hard to stop them scoring some runs. Carly Thomas vs. Kayla Williams will be another great pitching duel as well. This game should have it all!

Needless to say I'm going to Nacogdoches HS Thursday nite at 7 p.m. to watch this one!

Final 8 teams of Region 3 saw 4 ET teams in Bullard, Rusk, Spring Hill, and Huntington. Now we have an all East Texas Region 3 final! WOW!

Question about walking the leadoff hitter. I have heard a lot about the speed of the #2 and #3 hitters for Spring Hill; so if you walk the #1 hitter does that "slow down" the speed of the those two? Just curious, #1 may be very fast as well.

don't worry #1 can get around the bases just fine

For SH to win, they must eliminate the errors. There were way too many fielding and throwing errors in the Splendora series. It cost SH the first game, and they found a way to beat Splendora in the third game in spite of errors. With regard to the infield hits; when SH was down 1 with two outs in the top of 7 against Splendora, they got an infield hit by Fudge in the 8 spot, drew a walk at the 9 spot, and intentional walk of Sanders in the one spot, and infield, 2 rbi hit by Campbell, and then Williams went deep to center field for two more rbi's. SH gets a lot of infield hits. The will definitely need this against Huntington who has not yet been scored upon in the playoffs. Should be another incredible softball game. GOOD LUCK LADY PANTHERS

Spring Hill folks probably could tell you better than I, but the one game I saw her, she's plays 2B very well covering a lot of ground, I hear she's a very talented basketball player as well and her dad actually wants her to play college basketball over softball. Strong athletic girl that won't slow down things on the bases. Actually Coach Comfort has constructed a kinda innovative offense with a leadoff with home run power with speed behind her. Not your typical lineup for sure. I'm sure Coach Wright has some ideas on how to slow em down!

Man what a game! SH had runners on base all night but finally broke through in the 5th with 2 outs..Kinda of like last week when they scored 4 with 2 outs...both times it started from the eight or ninth hitter...Way to go LB with a 2 out double to left...that started the ball rolling. Of course Kayla Willliams had another outstanding performance on the mound and if I am not mistaken SH just knocked out ALL 18AAA teams in the playoffs...Way to represent 17AAA GOOD LUCK AT STATE

Way to go Spring Hill. You ladies should be very proud of your accomplishments. Now go down to Austin and get'r done. Of course thats only if you don't meet up with the Lady Vandals. Hopefully we will see you down there. thumbsup.gif

Yes road to Austin came thru all three 18AAA teams which says something about 17-3A and 18-3A as well since I believe there were 7 districts and 21 teams competing in Region 3. Our two ET districts came to the top anyway you look at it. Next year should provide more great and exciting games between these two strong districts.

Hope Spring Hill goes down there and brings the championship back for Region 3. If you keep your offense rolling and minimize errors, this team certainly has the talent to go all tha way! Wish Kayla and rest of SR 2009 Class best of luck in making this a very special year!

Also want to congratulate Huntington and Coach Wright in a valiant defense of your state title! People don't understand how hard it is to repeat especially after graduation of that great SR class of 2008.

Congrats to Spring Hill. Very impressive last night. To quote the immortal Rick Flair, "to be the man you got to beat the man." Well you did last night knocking off the defending State Champs. Do region 3 proud in Austin and keep the big trophy in East Texas.

I agree Underdogg. Some things are best ignored. Its just a disgruntled ex-Huntington coach (who is now at EF) with a bone to pick.

Good luck at Austin, EF Lady Jackets!

SH was honored to take the field against a great Huntington team. They battled for 7 innings which says alot for both teams. Huntington did not stop "playing the Wright way". Those girls played hard and had a lot of heart. SH had Kayla Williams and a batting lineup that is strong from #1 to #9. Never underestimate the bottom of the lineup!

Huntington's Softball program is awesome and will continue to be awesome. IT IS ALWAYS DONE THE WRIGHT WAY.

lynn_89
The lady that was sitting behind got the score when it was 6-0. Sorry to the Devilettes, but had another great year. Keep your heads up b/c my understanding your pitcher will be back along with most of your team.

Spring Hill, congrats on your first ever State tournament appearance. Have fun, and enjoy it!! You must have one heck of team since you took out three very strong teams from District 18-3A. Huntington has gotten a good little summer program going there, Rusk always has one of the best, and Carthage makes it a triple threat. I know Rusk/Huntington are both very young, and have many players back, so 3A should be loads of fun next year to follow as well..smile.gif

Huntington lost alot from last years team but found a way to get back to the Regional Finals...thats not an easy task...Hats off to Hunting for a job well done.....It also wasnt easy for SH to get there either....knocking out all 3 18AAA teams wasnt even close to easy but they found a way to do it. Of course you have Splendora in there to..but in the last 2 series in was the #8 hitter for SH to keep it going against Splendora (2outs 2 stikes in top of 7th) and the #9 hitter against Huntington to start their 2 out rally. SH has found a way to win...GREAT PITCHING, strong defense (most of the time) and lots of timely hitting...keep it up girls and best of luck at STATE.........BRING IT BACK SPRINGHILL..
