Pens in 4 + 2 overtimes.
I’m almost over my raging case of post crappy Dallas Stars season syndrome. If the Pens can pull this off and keep the evil empire away from the cup, I’ll be happy (ier).

Blah. I can stand Detroit winning. I don't think I could live with Crosby getting a ring.
The references to the 1980s Oilers for Pittsburgh is beginning to become extremely annoying, especially when they were absolute #### in the regular season and absolutely nothing like the Oilers of the 80s.

Thought this was interesting heading into tonight's Game 6 (one which the Wings will win behind Hossa's Cup winning goal in Pittsburgh)
QUOTE
Of the 6,400-some players to have played in the NHL in the league's 90-plus year history, 14 per cent won at least one Stanley Cup championship in their career.
It adds up to 917 players, with Mr. Hossa and a few others potentially joining the club later tonight.
Those are the big picture numbers, and they tell us only a little of the story. Part of the problem is that they include about 200 players who were born before World War I, in an era when close to 40 per cent of the players in the league would, at some point, win a Cup.
What I started with was a look at all NHL players by birth year, along with a figure indicating how many players born in that particular year won a championship at some point in their career. Breaking these birthdates down into five-year segments, beginning with players born between 1900 and 1904, here's a graphical representation of the percentage of players per segment that won a Cup in their career:
http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/126147/c...aph1_medium.jpgThe Red Wings are making it look easy...but I think some people realize just how tough it is to win the Stanley Cup.
917 players out 6,400. That is just insane especially considering that for 60+ years it was only a 6 team league.

While a 15th-place finish might not seem like a big deal to many people, it may likely have been the highest weekly finish in VERSUS history as far as primetime viewers go. Propped up by two Stanley Cup Final games as well as Faber/Brown II, VERSUS averaged 1.14 million viewers in primetime for the week of June 1-7. It outdrew networks such as Lifetime, AMC, and oh yeah… a little channel called ESPN (1.076 million).

Dear Pittsburgh Penguins --
I am not a fan of your franchise, but the sight of a visiting team skating the Cup around the ice at Joe Louis Arena – across that God-awful “Hockeytown” logo
would be the next-best thing to my beloved Stars skating the Cup on any ice.
Skate hard tonight & please bludgeon the holier-than-thou Red Wings with extreme prejudice.
