Trying to start a 12u softball team. Any Advise on the organizational end of it? Dues? Fundraising events?

Hoping Parents step up and take over a large part of this, but don't want 10 sets of parents going in different directions

I have been trying to do the same thing at the 8u level and have found it very diffucult. You have to have parents truely commited to the idea. Best of luck

The following ideas are just my opinions but I believe they will be helpful. Pick you're team wisely. Look for potential. Most players who are already polished are on good teams and happy with that team. Pick girls that have good attitudes and that you think will develope into solid players. Get at least 2 solid pitchers whose dads or moms are dedicated and work with them often. Look for sticks. Most important is pick wisely and stick with those kids. Let them know that if they compete and EARN a spot that you will stick by them. The best fundraiser hands down is hosting tournaments. And last, be blunt when collecting money from parents. Oh and one other thing that will prolly get me in the dog house but its true. Pick out uniforms that YOU like and go with those. If you ask for input or opinions from the girls or moms, you will be Christmas getting them and they will NEVER be the right ones LOL.

Thanks for the advise - Actually in pretty good shape on pitching. Found pretty good website to use WWW.WEPLAY.com allows you to make make team website. Has Calander for scheduling and google maps included to get directions to tournaments.

One thing to add, when you conduct tryouts let parents know you will be requiring Monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual dues and how much they are...also, require the parents and any siblings that will be making tournaments to attend a practice before you commit to a player. If you don't like the way a parent conducts him/herself be wary because kids tend to repeat everything they hear.

I have a 11 under baseball team...Do not do fundraisers..I charge the parents a $60.00 a month fee.

That covers 2 tournaments a month.

We have 1 fundraiser a year in April each year it is a crawfish boil...we make good $$$$ on it, but most of the parents do not show up....usually the coaches and their wives end up doing all the work.
