We're losing some incredible seniors, but I'm betting we'll be well in the run next year, too. Girls, you are awesome. Congratulations to Celina and we're looking forward to seeing some of your girls playing college ball in East Texas next year.

Its to bad the three seniors had to go out like this do to some poor coaches decisions to start a different pitcher who hadn't pitch in 6 weeks. Why not stick with what was working in the playoff games before that.

Seriously? You're going to put it on poor coaching decisions? Get realistic. Anyone up 1 game to 0 in a three game series with 2 undefeated pitchers and you're saying it's a poor decision? I don't know a coach that would pitch the Ace in the second game, you always save the Ace for the third game in case you go down in the second game. Errors brought Van down in both games. It's softball, and when you have a bad day, there is no way of getting around it. Don't be putting anything on a poor coaching decision. It's a team game and I'm sure the Vandals know that they lost as a team. No certain individual ruined it for them.
Good luck next year ladies..

I just want to congraulate the lady vandals for an awsome year. Not many teams can say they went 33 games before their first loss. You should all be very proud of how well you did. Chels i am soo proud of the player you have become. I look forward for you last two years to being great.
GO LADY VANDALS!!!

Then in your opinion why didn't the coach take the pitcher out after she got out of a bases loaded situation knowing that they might have her number and go with the senior pitcher? Probably the same reason he would leave their #1 pitcher in a warm up game for 14 innings instead of letting the other one get some work, it was all about the winning, everyone should know when you are on a roll and you get your bubble busted it is hard to come back and win the third game

Van was a well coached team. Quite frankly, the better team won. Celina had the clear advantage in hitting and pitching. Slight edge to Van on defense. The positioning of the Van defenders was excellent which led to outs that would have otherwise been hits. Van had a great season which unfortunately had to come to an end.

Your comments are not gonna do much good for your daughter in the years to come. Good luck with that!

I might agree with you if I had a daughter playing, but I am just repeating comments heard around the stands.

I agree. Celina stroked the ball up and down the batting order. Great season girls. Start preparing now for next year, champions are built in the off season.

Although I wasnt there to see the game I had a few freinds who were. They said Van didnt play its best game on defense and thats never good. They also said Celina was the better team and when thats the case (if it was) then you cannot make any errors... We (SH) wanted to see Van go because of the great sportsmenship we received from your girls, fans and coaches last year. You won us over, but I would have to say if you win game 1 you go with your ace in game 2. Why, because you want to close them out thats why. I look at Carthage and Splendora...SH pitcher went all three games and twice had to go back to back. She got wins in both 3rd games. You go with what got you there and thats all there is to it, especially if she had all night to rest from game 1..Thats a decision only the coach can explain and live with.

Good quote. That is why he is the coach. Has a year to roll it over in his mind. We all second guess ourselves at times. May not be the case with him as I don't know him, but it was a strange strategy.
