Looking at the four regional winners in 3A only Celina won their district. Spring Hill andf Needville finished second and Gatesville finished third. That proves that everybody needs a second chance!

Says something about a team getting on a roll and the power of momentum. Also I think the required area game format of 1 game could have had an impact this year. If all regional games had been a required one game format, that would certainly changed who was going to Austin.

Also think Texas HS ball is getting more parity just like NCAA softball. The Arizona's, Arizona State's, or UCLA's aren't dominating the scene these days are they. There's plenty of great D1 programs across the nation today. You can see it in Texas HS ball these days as well. Most HS programs have more and more girls playing summer and fall travel ball. More and more girls are taking pitching and hitting lessons as well. That's my argument in why you're seeing only one district champ in Austin in 3A.
