There are hundreds out there, but, I keep listening to Careless Whisper by Seether. IMO, Way better than the original!

Metallica-Whiskey in the Jar. Sorry CT77, I know you'll probably lobby f/Thin Lizzy on this one. And
I will say that T.L. did a better job than the Greatful Dead.

Pearl Jam - love reign o'er me

Seether should have just left that song alone.. both version are horrid..much like the bands that sing/sang it. But the worst is Killswitch Engage version of Holy Diver by Dio...talk about terrible. crybaby.gif

Yellowcard's cover of Oh My Love would have to be my favorite. I like it a bit more than the original.

KROKUS-"Ballroom Blitz" by Sweet
METALLICA-"Turn the Page" by Bob Segar
KISS-"Then she kissed me" by the Crystals
GNR-"Knockin' on Heavens Door" by Bob Dylan
LIMP BIZKIT-"Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who
CHILI PEPPERS-"Love Rollercoaster" by The Ohio Players
VAN HALEN-"You Really Got Me" by The Kinks
CrankThatCrabtree
I love the Chili Peppers pick, forgot about that

I can't imagine someone doing Ballroom Blitz better than Sweet.

it's not a remake but the best rap sample of all time is in Hey Ladies, (Beastie Boys), when out of nowhere it takes a sample of Sweet singing "she thinks she's the passionate one"

the band Goldfinger is terrible but they accidentally got something right when they remade 99 Luft Balloons, it's pretty cool

Now remember I never said they were better, just wanted some opinions. But Bizkit does do it well on this one!!! Also, Smoking in the Boys room by Motley Crue (Brownsville Station) probably charted higher than the original.
stoneykelly

In 50 years, Fred Durst will be remembered as the musical joke he has always been biggrin.gif

Well . . . you caught me in a good mood today, so I will not go in to a diatribe about how Limp Bizkit has NO BUSINESS covering a Who song whome.gif

Nope:
Brownsville Station -- #3 in 1974
Mötley Crüe -- #16 in 1985
stoneykelly
the only reason anybody will remember durst will be "nookie". now 10 years later that song should've made them one hit wonders. really makes you realize how great the music was fromm 1999 till about 2003. rolleyes.gif

c'mon a little fiddle. some steel guitar. why didnt cheap trick think of that? lol
Immortal13
Tom Petty, Prince, ect. did a version of My Guitar Gently Weeps which was quite good. I'm no big Prince fan, but he shreds it on the guitar solo.

C'mon man, Cheap Trick is the band that brought us the unforgettable ballad The Flame.
Immortal13
No comments on the Prince solo I see. It's really worth a listen. Say what you will about Prince, but he can tear it up on the guitar.

tried to make a joke about andy gibb and the lead singer of cheap trick. guess in went up in "the flame".

Prince's halftime show at the superbowl was one of the best i can remeber. "purple rain" in the rain.
