What's your favorite type of deer stand to hunt from and do you have any fond memories of a particular stand from years past?

i hope immortal 13 doesnt endorse a tree stand since last year's accidnet. we've always used blinds or walked for deer. bowhunters in my family use the tree stands around feed pens.

no I think I'll pass.
BTW, hunting over a feeder is weak.....no offense.

Back when I used to have time to hunt, I preferred a good old fashioned tree stand.....

Deer are either eating, sleeping, or making little deer. If you hunt you are hunting over feed, bedding area or rut movement. Some who says hunting over feed or bait, really does not understand how deer live. If you hunt a trail, you are hunting over a "baited" area. The bait just may not be corn.

I prefer a box stand about 4 or 5 foot off the ground. It provides a little more warmth and of course cover from rain. Some would consider hunting with a gun and not with a bow weak..so as long as you are respectful to the land and the game then i don't care as long as your not hunting in a pen.

all in all about the feed pen debate, it dont matter as long as your outside in the country enjoying your hunt. high fences is a whole nother can of worms in itself.

My favorite is chainon stands over a trail to a feeding area and high up. As I get older though I find myself using more lean-to and popup blinds. I bowhunt 90% of the time and film deer out of the popups when I take my Dad gun hunting. Every stand type has it's purpose and advantages. I try to fit the stand to the setup instead of the setup to the stand.

Leaning right up against a tree that has a little cedar sprout next to it. To absorb the many times I pass gas as well as a little scent cover in general. Can't wait to find the right tree this year. I also love a climbing stand. I have a grizzley that ways a ton. Wish I would have been smarter and just got one of those from Wally world. I am ok with hunting over a feeder in South Texas. I would rather face another direction and watch them passing. Usually feeder on my left. Brush to the front and right. I usually make me a make shift blind out of mesquites and cedars. Set me up a chair and read the good book on a sunny day. Occasionaly fall asleep and wake up to see the biggestboy or girl right in front of me. Wooh! Wee! Can't wait.

Anywhere without limbs. lol.
Chain-on with steps is the most versatile (if not on timber company land).

i use as lean-to in one area that i hunt regular. I have become a big fan of my Double-Bull Dark Horse blind due to its mobility and the kids being able to hunt with me and me being able to still use my bow. I like it so well, i am thinking about buying another one.

I prefer whatever I can sleep in the best.I've killed 92% of my deer going to or returning from my stand. And that's not a joke!In fact i've never killed a buck from a tree stand.I see people on T.V. do it all the time though.
