The team would be known as the Toronto Legacy, and would play out of a proposed 30,000-seat arena built at Downsview Park, located in the north of the Greater Toronto Area. Lopez said the site would include a community athletic centre, 50-metre swimming pool, four outdoor rinks and public park space among other amenities.

"We're not sure how (the NHL) or the Toronto Maple Leafs will take this," said Lopez.

Just now re-reading the article....

"We're not here to compete with the Toronto Maple Leafs," Lopez said. "We're here to be their little brother."

Really. That's a great mind set for a franchise.

I'm sure that there are cities without franchises that the NHL could expand into without putting another team in Toronto...

Does the NHL really need to be expanding right now? unsure.gif

I was kinda wondering the same thing....

(Even though I don't follow hockey at all I know there are a TON of teams!!!)

I didn't read this story but I've heard they are considering moving Phoenix to a Canadian city, they might move them for a second Toronto squad, or they could move them to Seattle which is what I'd do

If Phoenix gets moved, they're moving them to Hamilton....which is less than an hour from Toronto.

This would be a 3rd team in Toronto...aka New York Northwest.
