Definitely looks like the 3 Texas teams could become big rivals.

TEXAS STARS SIGN RIGHT WING LANDON WILSON AS FIRST PLAYER IN TEAM HISTORY

Cedar Park, TX – Texas Stars General Manager Scott White announced today the team has signed right wing Landon Wilson to a two-year AHL contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Landon Wilson brings instant credibility and a veteran presence to our locker room,” said Texas Stars General Manager Scott White. “He is a guy who is very capable of scoring a lot of goals and he will be a huge asset for us in developing young prospects. Landon is a big power forward who will be a leader for us on and off the ice.”

Wilson becomes the first player signed in Texas Stars history. The 34-year old enters his 15th professional season after splitting last season between the NHL’s Dallas Stars and the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins. Wilson scored twice and totaled eight points in 27 contests with Dallas in 2008-09. In 15 games with Grand Rapids, the right wing scored eight goals and netted 15 points, while amassing 37 penalty minutes.

In all, Wilson has played in 700 career games, including 375 in the NHL with Dallas, Phoenix, Colorado and Boston. The St. Louis, MO native has 53 career NHL goals and 119 NHL points. For his professional career, the 6-foot-3, 226-pound forward has 212 goals and 172 assists for 384 points. He also has racked up 1,193 minutes in penalties.

The Texas Stars host the Dallas Stars on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm at Cedar Park Center. Individual gate prices for the historic match-up start as low as $15.00 per seat. TEXAS STARS FINALIZE PRESEASON SCHEDULE, SIGN BEAUDOIN AND STEPHENSON

Cedar Park, TX – The Texas Stars announced today the team has signed right
wing Matt Beaudoin and defenseman Matt Stephenson to AHL contracts. Per club
policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Texas also announced its full
preseason schedule.

“Matt Beaudoin is a guy who had a tremendous showing in the 2009 Calder Cup
Playoffs and really turned some heads with his abilities,” said Texas Stars
General Manager Scott White. “Matt Stephenson is a rugged defenseman who
played very well in Idaho and Providence. Both players are welcome additions
and will play key roles with the Texas Stars.”

The 25-year old Beaudoin (pronounced Boh-dwan) enters his third professional
season after spending the bulk of 2008-09 with the AHL’s Houston Aeros. The
right wing scored 11 times and added eight assists for 19 points in 41
regular season games with the Aeros. Beaudoin flourished in the postseason,
scoring eight goals and dishing out nine assists for 17 points in 20 Calder
Cup playoff games with Houston. In all, the Rock Forest, PQ native has played
in 132 pro games, scoring 59 goals and setting up 46 others for 105 points.
Beaudoin has 20 points (11g-9a) in 55 career AHL games.

Matt Stephenson split his rookie season between Providence (AHL) and Idaho
(ECHL). In 17 games with the Bruins, The 25-year old set up two goals and
accumulated 32 penalty minutes. In 53 games with the Idaho Steelheads, the
6-foot-2, 204-pounder scored five goals and dished out 22 assists for 27
points. The defenseman also finished among the team leaders with 127 penalty
minutes.

The Texas Stars also revealed the 2009-10 preseason schedule. Texas will play
San Antonio twice, starting with the first preseason game of the year in San
Antonio at 7:30 PM on Thursday, September 24th. The Rampage will then visit
the Texas Stars at Cedar Park Center on Sunday, September 27th at 3:00 pm.
The Texas Stars will also host the Houston Aeros on Monday, September 28th at
7:00 pm. In their final preseason game, the Texas Stars host the Dallas Stars
on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm at Cedar Park Center.

Both Beaudoin and Stephenson will be at the Stars (Dallas) training camp starting up this weekend.

Dallas also signed Hubert Labrie to a ELC today (3 years I believe), and for those who don't know what an ELC is it's an entry level contract that all players get on their first contract.

Labria is a defensive defensemen and just turned 18 this past summer. He will be in juniors for at least another year.

Texas knocks off San Antonio, 2-1, in the first ever pre-season game.

San Antonio, TX - The Texas Stars defeated the San Antonio Rampage 2-1 in a preseason game on Thursday night at the Ice Center at Northwoods. Stars' goalie Richard Bachman made 30 saves for the victory, shutting out the Rampage for the first 52:13 of regulation. Forwards Travis Morin and Greg Rallo each scored in the Texas win. The Stars' penalty kill was flawless, stopping all seven San Antonio power plays. The Texas Stars will make their Cedar Park Center debut on Sunday at 3:00 pm in a rematch with San Antonio.
