It did change, but I think I will stick to my compound this year...May have to see about a crossbow for next season.

They are going to allow the cross bows this year. I can't remember if they are going to be able to be used in bow season or gun season though. I am going to try to find that here in a little to be sure.

My understanding was that they would be allowed in bow season only.

Crossbows have always been allowed during gun season. Now they will be allowed for archery-only season as well.
Lame, if you asked me. If you want to bow hunt, use a bow. If you have to use a crossbow, wait until gun season. Ah well, another dumb TP&W regulation....nothing new. I still can't believe they dropped the 40# mininum draw weight requirement (thanks to Rick Perry). That was one rule that actually made sense.

I agree with you on the draw weight for sure. That is apt to wound a few too many deer. As far as the cross bow is concerned, I don't really care. The true bow hunters will not be running out to buy cross bows and I do not see that many gun hunters running out and buying them either. Most people are very loyal to one season or the other and those that do both generally do not like to mix the two!

I don't understand the reasoning behind TP&W's dropping that draw weight and how did RP's influence come in to play?

LMAO. Good point. However, there had to be some "reason" no matter how absurd.
