DEF LEPPARD -- "Pour Some Sugar On Me"

^ I know I cry every time I hear that song .......... the fact that a once proud band would record something so pathetic is more than my Rock & Roll soul can handle crying.gif

It was a fun song in 1987. 22 years later, I'm tired of it being played myself. Def Leppard is not defined by their only #1 hit. Badfinger should not be defined by "Without You". Most bands have a stinker, that the populace thought was a wonderful song. I won't do the same by bringing up a song that we all cringe to hear by Cheap Trick. I compare "PSSOM" to "She's Tight". It was just a song that took off for them. If I had my druthers, it would never be in their set list again, or played on any radio station ever again.

I'll add "Without You", because I think it's a great song. I won't go into the trivia over it. "Lonely You" is also a sad song that I enjoy since I'm in a Badfinger mood.

Oh, man -- I thought you were going to say "The Flame" ... but "She's Tight" ???? ermm.gif

"She's Tight" is a Beethoven symphony compared to "Some Sugar On Me" rofl.gif

You must be thinking of "Talk Dirty To Me" by Poison ... seeing how those hacks stole the riff from "She's Tight" for that song rant.gif

I've never been a Poison fan, except "Fallen Angel". My wife loves the band, and as you stated they are a decent Al Yankovic for rock music.

"She's Tight" is one of the songs that I like, but it's not to be taken seriously. PSSOM and All Night, weren't meant to be taken seriously. In the words of Joe Elliot "they're testosterone songs". They're almost like Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven".

Back on track, sad songs, sad songs :

Sad songs from Def Leppard, me Def Leppard notworthy.gif "Where Does Love Go When It Dies", "Torn To Shreds", and "Long, Long Way To Go" . Which is better Lionel Ritchie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKlrsh1qvz0 , or Def Leppard : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAtJ48gvAqs

Yeah, Like when Cheap Trick "tried" to do Elvis!!!

No comparison -- Cheap Trick did a very good (not great) cover ... it is better than EVERYTHING Def Leppard recorded after 1983.
mustangmania
Well, you can play any of the post 83 Def Leppard songs in a bar, or at a party, or for that matter...a sporting event, and watch the crowd react. Then (if you dare) play Cheap Tricks attempt at an Elvis remake any at of the above mentioned venues, and compare the reactions. Game Over!!!

I have to firmly disagree with that statement. I sort of grew up with The Beatles, because I would listen to my brothers records when I was a kid (when they weren't home). I understand you're upset that Cheap Trick hasn't been a top billed band since the 80's. Def Leppard has put out some great songs, and showed their maturity over the years. They've remembered "Steamin" Steve Clark on every album with a song dedicated to him. Def Leppard has put out several solid songs, since that time. Perhaps you didn't relate to them. I've related to 90% of them.

Thank goodness inebriated groupthink reactions at sporting events and bars are not leading indicators of musical integrity!! biggrin.gif
