If I am not mistaken it is the 95 Texas Showtime out of Mineola, very young team but not bad for their age!

you are mistaken... It isn't showtime! From the email address it's Kenneth Slaydon trying to get a team together! He coached No Chance... They broke up then he coached Anderson 94... They broke up then he coached......... see a pattern there? devil.gif

Sportsjunkie-Have not named team yet. so That is why there is no team name.I was not hiding anything , most people on here know who I am. Also had a very good turn out and have spoke with a lot of girls even a few that play with some of the players on your dds team that are not happy where thet are?

Busymomof1-You have to have dedicated girls to keep A team together (Not Girls Who think they can play because they play in Longview League every spring)

It seams that there are a lot of teams having trouble keeping talented teams together at this age level. Girls just get involved in a lot of things and move on to other things. Some Basketball-Some volleyball and some boys!

I am putting a group together that wants to play and get ready for the next level, not part time. They should not have to go practice in the metro-plex like a lot of the east texas girls do(because there is nothing in the East Texas area to offer these girls)

Here are some of the things I think is wrong with East Texas Softball:
1. Teams that are not getting out trying to play the best teams are not getting any better.
2. Teams that are constantly playing in the East Texas Area have no idea that they are not playing the best because the best are not playing here...
3.To play at the next level, I think you have to work a lot harder than the others to achieve your goals of playing at the next level.(Not JV Busymomof-a descent 12u team could beat 95% of them)
4. Probaly 80-90% of the girls in this area are so far behind other parts of ths state people dont even think about it. Just look at the 3 biggest schools in our area. (Longview,Tyler Lee, And John Tyler) and look at the amount of girls that play travel softball. Why? IMO-Youth softball in our area...Not knocking tyler but it was bad until the last few years(When Anthony took over-he has done a fine job.)
Longview is horrible-just get some girls together and come play.
5.How well is east texas represented at the UIL State Softball Tour. at the 4a -5a Level? Not and never have been. Why not? There are over 4000 girls at just these 3 schools alone!
6.How well is East Texas area represented at the 1A-2A-3A level at the UIL State Softball tour.?A lot (Spring Hill,LE,Alto,EF,Harmony,Van,Huntington)probably missing some, just them right off top of my head.
7. Why? IMO because the amount of girls that play at the next level of travel ball for a Dad or Dads that put his time and money out there for these girls.
8. How many girls in the East Texas area have gone to college to play softball on scholarship? A lot.
9. How many girls in the East Texas area have gone to college to play softball on scholarship and did not play travel ball in the dallas area or on a metro-area team? Very few if any.
10. We even have the metro teams advertising on here for girls to come play with them. There are 10,000 girls with in 100 miles of them. Why do they have to come here to get them? Because there are some talented girls here that want to play at the level they want to play at. ( But a lot of parents cant afford to drive to the metro-plex and practice once-twice a week.)

I love reading on Smoaky, Dont post much because of the idiots responses you get on here most of the time in this section. Everyone trying to say my little suzie is better than your little suzie, you cheated and so on. And people that hide behind a screen name.

If you dont like my post or anyone elses post , read on ,you dont have to respond! (quit sticking your head where it dont belong)----Busymommy1

For you guys out there that do spend your time with the older girls, you know what I mean. For the rest just keep playing rec. ball.

As far as the club thing in East Texas, It has been tried by many including me, but most of us started to late with the girls. IMO need to start at 8U and start a new team every year after that not when they are all 13-14.

I am just looking to put a group together that want to play, not trying to steal players from other teams, but there are a bunch of teams that are no more with a bunch of girls that want to play. I am just searching for some of them. I am willing to put my time in for these girls if they are willing to put there time in. I AM ONLY WILLING TO HELP A GIRL THAT WANTS TO HELP HERSLF. If you dont like the way I coach or play, go somewhere else, I never blame anyone for trying to do what they think are better things for the kids. It is the ones like you bussy mommy who stick your nose where it dont belong.

For me personally the girls that played with me on NO CHANCE were some of the most gifted and talented athletes that I have ever been around. Also some of the finest parents that most of them are still close friends. When we changed our name to Anderson Express was a very hard thing to do but I thought I was doing the right thing, And I will be the first to admit I was wrong, So will the coaches of some of the older Anderson Express teams.

And One Thing To End On:

MY HATS OFF TO ALL THE COACHES OUT THERE(HIGH SCHOOL,TRAVEL) IF IT WASNT FOR YOU, ALL WE COULD WATCH WAS THE SLOW GAME OF BASEBALL. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE GIRLS OUT THERE ON THE DIRT.

Have to agree with almost everything you said about East Texas softball. Lee,Longview,John Tyler can't compete with the A,AA,AAA teams. Districts should be ashamed of themselves. Also , no one in East Texas host any ASA ball. They all (Kilgore,Longview,Shreveport) play USSSA or USFA which is inferior to ASA A ball. Also, I don't have a DD playing ball anymore, so it wasn't any of her teamates that are unhappy !
HomeRunKing
WOW, I agree with many of the comments made, but I do hope the new Head Coach at Tyler Lee will help with the building of a succesful program. Coach Smith had been doing a good job, and had made the playoffs...

I agree with most everything you said. My daughter has been on a few select teams in East Texas in recent years that all folded for various reasons. She is currently looking for an 18U team to play for and has been to several tryouts in the DFW area but one of the first questions asked by the DFW coaches is "have you ever played select ball before?" They only want players with select ball experience and that is hard to find in the East Texas area. We're gonna keep on trying though and do what we have to because she really wants to play ball at the next level, even if it means driving to the DFW area a few times a week!

I've noticed over the last couple of years that most East Texas teams go away around the 14U/16U age group with very few exceptions. It gets tough to keep the girls together when they get to the high school level. I think Anthony's impact on fastpitch in Tyler will really start to show at the high school level in the next year or so, as the girls he started out with get to the high school level.

coolball.gif They will be good players on probably decent to mediocre high school teams, unless they all play on the same high school team will they have the impact you think they will have.

Well, If your daughter has "been on a few select teams in East Tx., " she shouldn't have a problem finding a team in the Metroplex. They are a dime a dozen up there. Big organizations continue to backbite and swap players, independents stay together until grass gets greener ! Take your pick. ET teams are more stable if you can find one. Have you tried Travelers ET Gold ? Good coaches. Pretty good org. with ties to college ball.

I will have to disagree on that. I think Longview, Pine Tree and REL were more than competitive vs A-AAA teams. We hung with SpringHill, Harmony, etc. just fine. Let some of these A- AAA schools around here play Hallsville or Sulphur Springs or Texas High. This AAAA district is no Joke. ASA ball is no different than USSSA or even USFA. Only thing different is the rules. Now, if you are playing only ASA Gold tournaments then you step up a little, but I dont really see alot of difference. ASA is good in Metro-plex in the fact that you can always find an 18&U tournament to play in. But its just like all the rest of the organizations. In a 20 team tournament you will have about 3-5 very good teams, about 10 mediocre teams, and about 5 teams that bit off more than they can chew. "Sometimes your the Windshield and sometimes your the Bug".

ASA is definitely more competitive at the national level. My daughter's team played USSSA/USFA for several years and switched to ASA two years ago. Even in the Texas ASA tournaments the competition was much stronger. You are probably right about the pecking order in a 20 team tournament, but those top 5 in an ASA tournament are generally much stronger than the top 5 in a USSSA/USFA tournament.
