I have to admit (I'm from NB by the way) those are some pretty good marches, and i cant wait to see your band play and the "loud" counter march!
New Boston is playing:
Precision Fanfare
Quality-Plus
Neddermyer March
and we usually have
majorette songs take over from there(ugh)

I love both songs, but (since i'm on the low brass side) i have to pick the Quality Plus trio as my all time favorite.

My favorite low brass trio other than Rolling Thunder of course would have to be Tripoli Temple.

I dunno, I guess the timbre of the trio is just different from marches like Rolling Thunder and Battle of the Winds, etc. I like Attorney General too!

I know for sure that Union Grove is playing "Cyrus the Great" (which is my favorite march by the way) this year. I am not sure about what else they are going to be performing though.

O my gosh! The Melody Shop?! Do you have some state baritone players? Because if you don't , good luck !

If your talking about the trio then I understand what you mean, it is a very hard piece to play. We have Staten Delaney, he shouldve made all state last year, I predict him making it this year.

Do you have him playing it solo during your performance? Because its hard enough to play that piece standing still, let alone marching.

We dont have our entire drill made up yet, but yes, thats what our director is going to try to do.

Here's Longview's drill:
Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare
Chicago World's Fair
Purple Pageant (Trio)
Joyce's 71st N.Y. Regiment
Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare
Longview is only marching 144 this year. That's the first time in a long time they have fielded less than 160. The drill is very good, you can tell Durham didn't write it.

EF
Percision Fanfare
Mighty Mite-Mesang (1st and 2nd strain)
Cost Guards-King (1st and 2nd strain)
Columbian Trio-King
Percision at the end as well
Really nice drill that fits our style of marching very well. Mr. Conway has done a great job with our band. Honestly I feel that I play more musically since he has come.

Okay so let me get this straight, there are 3 bands, including Elysian Fields(sorry if I spelled it wrong), New Boston, and Pittsburg, playing Precision Fanfare? And two of them playing it at the beginning and the end? Hmm.

It seems like every year there are several bands that play the same music.
I've got a question, how many of you guys' schools play the same marches every few years?
Longview has played Invictus, Northwind, Chicago World's Fair, Rolling Thunder, The Crosley, Purple Pageant, Joyce's, and The Viking twice and Honeyboys three times since 2001. I'm trying to find out if this is common among bands, or if Longview just likes playing the same music year in and year out. These are great marches, but I'd like to hear some more variety.

We have played different marches every year. And as for playing percision we needed some cushion on the time. Big deal. It isn't against the rules. If we play it perfectly whats the problem?

Yeah NB is playing the Darwall precision fanfare, is that the same one you're talking about? New Boston alternates songs every 5 years or so. I know we played kiefer's special last year and also in like 2003 but thats how it goes in NB. People get tired of hearing the same stuff, but not many can remember after a few years lol. I feel the same way with marching drills also, it gets pretty old whenever you do the same bit of a drill every year.
I know what you mean about every band doing the same thing sometimes, does anyone remember the NAMMB in 07 when like 6 bands were playing honey boys on parade?

When did Marshall change back to military?
They're playing:
Festival Prelude
The Viking
E Plurubus Unum (I think, posting this from memory of Friday's game)
Honey Boys on Parade
Good to see them marching military again, they're not that good but they're not that bad either.
It looks like their numbers have dropped off quite a bit since the last time I saw them.

Actually, we are not doing The Melody Shop, our drill would have been too long. We are doing the top half of Olympia Hippodrum and the bottom half of Tripoli Temple.
