Tevin Watson transfers from Westwood to Athens
Smoaky.com learned Palestine Westwood quarterback Tevin Watson has left the school and multiple sources have confirmed he will enroll at Athens High School.
Westwood AD/Football Coach Kevin Anderson told Smoaky.com, "Tevin was dismissed from the athletic department earlier this semester and from all indications he has also transferred to another school," Anderson continued, "And, I will sign off on his transfer."
Athens AD/Football Coach Paul Essary told Smoaky.com, "Yes, Tevin has officially enrolled at Athens High School."
Watson completed 117-183 passes for 1,768-yards and 14-TD's during his junior season, and was an All-Smoaky.com honorable mention selection.

Almuete takes over at Cross Roads
Steve Almuete has begun his duties as athletic director and head football coach at Cross Roads High School.
Almuete spent the past three-years at Kerens High School, including the title as interim head coach during Russell Anderson's cancer treatments.
This will be Almuete's second head coaching opportunity after going 8-12 at Dawson over two years and he told Smoaky.com, "This is a great opportunity because there aren't many of these jobs available." Almuete added, "I know this program has struggled in recent years but if every job was perfect no one would ever leave so we're focused on turning things around and the immediate feedback has been very positive."
Almuete was also an assistant at Dawson, Blooming Grove, Wortham, Granger, and of course, Kerens.
He replaces Chancz Johnson who resigned earlier this year.

Frankston Twins commit to Stephen F. Austin
Frankston linebackers and identical twins Jabralon and Jamal Allen have both given verbal commitments to play college football at Stephen F. Austin State University.
Both players are 6-1, 190, and run a 4.6 40.
Jabralon was a 2nd-Team All-Smoaky.com selection after recording 133-tackles, 24-TFL, 4-sacks, 2-Caused Fumbles, 2-Fumble Recoveries, and 1-Interception.
Jamal recorded 31-Tackles in 2009, blocked one kick and broke up a pass.

Callaway leaving Gladewater for Mesquite High
Smoaky.com learned Scott Callaway resigned on Wednesday as athletic director and head football coach at Gladewater High School to take a job as an assistant coach at Mesquite High School.
Callaway was 16-25 in four years with the Bears.
But the Whitehouse and SFA graduate told Smoaky.com, "This was a tough and difficult decision to make because I've had a tremendous amount of support from the superintendent, school, community and of course my staff and the student-athletes here in Gladewater," he continued, "But, I felt it was the right time to make a move and go back to a program where we experienced a lot of success in the 90's."
Callaway was an assistant coach at Mesquite from 1992-1999.
He was also 51-14 in five years at Big Sandy High School, including a semifinals appearance in 2004 followed by a championship game appearance in 2005.

Andy Malone resigns in Longview, Martinez Promoted

Multiple sources are telling Smoaky.com Andy Malone has resigned as the head baseball coach at Longview High School.
Malone, who has been at Longview for two years, will be replaced by current assistant coach Bernie Martinez. Martinez, a former head coach LeTourneau University is being promoted immediately.
Malone ends his high school career with a record of 861-335, among the top five all-time records in Texas.
