The Kilgore ISD Board of Trustees has selected Michael Wood as the next Head Coach/Athletic Director for the district. Coach Wood was hired at a special meeting of the KISD Board on Tuesday night.
Wood, who has been the Bulldogs defensive coordinator and assistant head coach told Smoaky.com, "This means a lot to me, certainly Coach Vallery left this program in good shape and we're going to do everything possible to try and keep it that way," he continued, "My staff and I look forward to the challenge ahead of us."

Former Longview running back Vondrell McGee was charged with DWI on Sunday after being picked-up at 3:07am for driving without his headlights on and the University of Texas football program announced on Tuesday he would be suspended a minimum of at least one game to start the 2010 season.
McGee, a senior next season, has been in competition for the starting running back spot at Texas.

Elysian Fields I.S.D. on Wednesday approved the recommendation of Eric King as their new athletic director and head football coach.
King, who has been the Elysian Fields assistant head coach and defensive coordinator replaces Jack Parker who resigned to become the assistant principal. He told Smoaky.com, "This opportunity is something that I thank God for. I never would of thought that at 33 years old and only in my 7th year of coaching that I would be a head coach."

Williams told Smoaky.com on Sunday, he'll wrap-up three visits to NFL teams this week before trying to relax, "I've been to a lot of places and flown a million miles in recent months and I'm excited to find out where is my next destination to continue my career." Depending on what NFL Draft website, analyst or guru you read or listen too, Williams appears to be a sure-fire Top 10-15 pick.
Former Paul Pewitt High School football star Jimmy Wilkerson signed a one-year, $2-million contract with the New Orleans Saints.
Wilkerson spent the last two seasons at Tampa Bay and recorded six sacks in 2009.
He played college football at Oklahoma and was originally drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2003.
