Mesquite Horn's Shephard commits to Iowa
Mesquite Horn wide receiver JaCorey Shepherd, 5-10 1/2, 170, 4.5, has verbally committed to the University of Iowa.

Shepherd was the District 11-5A Offensive Newcomer of the Year in 2009 as he had 46 catches for 672 yards and 7 TD's on the season. He recently attended the ESPN Rise Nike Football Training Camp at TCU on April 14th as well. He has a 3.90 core GPA.

Horn is in the same district that also includes Tyler Lee and Longview.

Schneider Named Ladyjacks Basketball Coach
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Brandon Schneider has been named head coach of the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball program SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill announced at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Daingerfield's Garrett commits to Tulsa
Daingerfield wide receiver Keyarris Garrett, 6-5, 182, 4.6, has given his verbal commitment to play college football at the University of Tulsa.

Garrett caught 27-passes for 401-yards and 10-TD's as a junior.

He is the third Daingerfield junior to commit from the Class of 2011, along with LB Steve Edmond (Texas) and offensive tackle Shayvion Hatten (TCU).

Rivercrest hires Muenster's Cross
Rivercrest I.S.D. approved the recommendation of Allen Cross as their new athletic director and head football coach on Thursday night.

Cross was 15-10 in two years as head coach at Muenster, and has been an assistant at Flower Mound (8-years), Colleyville Heritage (1-year), and Lancaster (3-years).

He told Smoaky.com, "This is a great opportunity for me and the family, and we're excited to get to work on sustaining the success of the programs who've been winning and rebuilding the programs that haven't had the same success."

Texas A&M suspends Adren Dorsey
Texas A&M head football coach Mike Sherman has suspended redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Adren Dorsey of John Tyler High School for personal reasons.

AggieYell.com is reporting Dorsey won't be back this spring and that his future with the team is uncertain at this time. He is definitely not injured.
