The UIL Legislative Hearing approved Class 2-A "football only" divisions for 2010 realignment. The UIL confirmed the vote was 121-75 in favor of the change. Class 2-A will now join Six-Man and Class 1-A for division alignments starting next season.

This decision means all football programs in Six-Man, Class 1-A and Class 2-A will be placed in Division I or Division II "prior" to the season and those districts will be aligned accordingly during the realignment in February.

Former Tyler Junior College punter Mitch Berger was signed on Monday by the Denver Broncos.

Berger, entering his 16th-season in the NFL was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl Championship team last season.

Berger began his NFL career with the Eagles in 1994, and has also played for the Bears, Vikings, Rams, Saints, Cardinals, Steelers, and now Broncos.
