Cardinals draft Henderson's Jenkins
1st-Round/Supplemental Picks:

#50. Tyrell Jenkins, RHP, Henderson H.S. (St. Louis Cardinals)

Jenkins told Smoaky.com, "This was pretty good, after I took the call from the Cardinals I realized how all my hard work had paid off and it brought a huge smile to me and everyone in the family."

When asked about pre-draft speculation he'd be drafted by the Yankees with the last pick of the first round, Jenkins said, "Well, the Yankees were willing to offer me some good money, but the Cardinals said they'd go even higher and based on where each organization is right now we felt the Cardinals was a better fit for me at this time."
