Monday, 1st April 2013 - 11:26AM
Navasota offensive coordinator Nelson Kortis has been approved as the new AD/Head Football Coach at Maud High School and he's pumped up about it, "Maud has hard-working kids, great coaches and school administration and a supportive community with all the building blocks of a championship program, so I anticipate great things ahead for the Maud Cardinals," Kortis continued, "My family and I are excited about the opportunity to be a part of this community and I look forward to getting started soon."

This is the first head coaching job for Kortis, who was the offensive coordinator for the Class 3-A, Division II State Champion Rattlers, "The opportunity to be AD/Football Coach at a quality program has been an ultimate goal of mine since before I started my coaching career."

Kortis, who played his senior year of high school football at Rogers for current Navasota head coach Lee Fedora, said he's been prepared this for moment, "I've been blessed to work with great coaches in great programs, all of which have prepared me for an opportunity like this one at Maud."

The Texas A&M graduate has also been an offensive coordinator at Montgomery (4-years) and Riesel (3-years).

Kortis is a graduate of Rogers High School and Texas A&M University.

Kortis replaces Matt Langley who left earlier this year.
