Saturday, 6th July 2013 - 9:54PM
Ryan Tomlin resigned on Tuesday as the boys head basketball coach at Whitehouse High School to become an assistant principal at Lindale High School.

Tomlin, who has been the head coach at Whitehouse for five years, told David Smoak, "I was 100% committed to coming back to Whitehouse for the next season, but this opportunity became available and after thinking it through, talking with my wife and praying about it, I just felt it was time for a new chapter in my life and career."

When asked if he would ever get back into coaching, Tomlin responded, "I will always have coaching in my blood, so I'm going to take this one year at a time."

Tomlin has been a head basketball coach for 11-years, Whitehouse (5-years), Bullard (5-years), and Bonham (1-year).

Whitehouse was 23-9 during the 2012-2013 season, losing to Mansfield Legacy in the first round of the Class 4-A state playoffs. The Wildcats had lost in the Area Round the previous four years. Tomlin was 72-37 in his five years at Whitehouse.
