Utah State QB Earl Campbell Award POW

TYLER, Texas – Utah State Quarterback Chuckie Keeton has been named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week for the second week of the college football season.

The Mountain West conference 6-2, 200-pound quarterback had an outstanding performance in Utah State’s 52-20 victory over Air Force. Keeton tied his own school record with five touchdown passes in handing Air Force its worst home loss since 2005. Against the Falcons, he completed a career-high 32 passes and tied his career-high with 40 pass attempts, while throwing for 360 yards, which is the second-most in his career. Keeton also rushed for a game-high 77 yards on just eight carries, including a 30-yard run, to become the 25th player in school history
and just second quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards in a career.

Keeton is a graduate of Cypress Creek High School in Houston.

THE EARL CAMPBELL TYLER ROSE AWARD
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division 1 football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four year D1 Texas college.
