Tyler Junior College (2-2):

The Apaches pulled off their second straight victory over ranked opponents in as many weeks, when they defeated Navarro 59-41 last Saturday.

TJC held the Bulldogs scoreless in the fourth quarter and forced four turnovers in the victory.
Penalties are one area that the Apaches need to improve on, as they were flagged 10-times for 105-yards.

The Apaches will host Texas A&T on Saturday, kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Kilgore College (2-2):

The Rangers fell to 1-2 in SWJACF action on Saturday, when the fell to Cisco 34-27.

Kilgore struggled to match the Wranglers all game and Cisco was able to seal the victory behind 17 unanswered points in the second half.

Kilgore will look to get back in the win column on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m., when they host Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

#14 Navarro College (2-2):

The Bulldogs have had a rough two weeks. After starting the season undefeated, they now find themselves on a two game losing streak.

Navarro had a strong first quarter against TJC and were able to take a 21-7 lead over the Apaches. Turnovers would lead to the demise of the Bulldogs and eventually lead the to a 59-41 loss.

Navarro will be looking to bounce back on Saturday, as they host undefeated #17 Cisco at 7:00 p.m.

Trinity Valley Community College (1-3)

Things are looking bleak for the Cardinals. TVCC dropped their second game in a row on Saturday 34-27 against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

TVCC was down 20-0 at the end of the first quarter and a lack of consistency did them in.

Tyri’k Barnes had a hand in two of the Cardinals touchdowns. Barnes connected with Colton Atkinson on a 12-yard pitch-and-catch and he also returned a punt 95-yards for a touchdown.

The Cardinals host #6 Blinn on Saturday, kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Texas College (0-1):

Texas College wasn’t able to come away victorious in their first game of the season. The Steers fell to Texas Wesleyan 36-7 last Saturday.

Carlos Mosby scored the Steers only touchdown, when he eluded the Texas Wesleyan defense for a 22-yard score. Defensively the Steers were led by Malik Guillory, who finished the game with 12 tackles, 4 TFL, and 2 sacks.

The Steers will be seeking their first win of the season on Saturday, when they host #22 Arizona Christian at 11:00 a.m.

Division 3 Programs

East Texas Baptist University (0-1):

The Tigers have had a week to regroup after their 59-44 loss against #16 Wisconsin-Platteville in the season opener.

ETBU will have to rely on a solid performance from their defense in order to prevent going 0-2. The Pirates of Southwestern are explosive and have defeated their first two opponents by a combined 79-27.

This will be the tenth meeting between these two programs and ETBU had won the last five. The Tigers and Pirates will get underway at 6:00 p.m.

#2 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (2-0):

The UMHB offense has put up video game numbers to start the 2018 season. The Cru have outscored their first two opponents 159-14. UMHB dominated Sul Ross last Saturday 68-7 and only allowed the Lobos six first downs in the game.

The Cru had two running backs rush for over 100-yards in the game and another rush for over 200-yards. UMHB finished the game with 690-yards of total offense and were 9-12 on third down conversions.

UMHB will be looking to increase their regular season winning streak to 25 games on Saturday 6:00 p.m. on the road versus Texas Lutheran.
