Bi-District Games to Watch for Central Texas Teams

Riesel (8-2, 5-1) vs Crawford (5-5, 3-2)

The Indians finished the regular season in second place of district 8-2A DI with their only loss coming to district champ Bosqueville 24-12.

Riesel has an efficient rushing attack led by senior RB Braden Jenkins and senior QB Steven Searcy.

Jenkins has rushed for 1,246 yards and 14TD this season, while Searcy has rushed for 875 yards and 11TD. Searcy is also 52 of 97 for 801 yards and 14TD through the air.

The Pirates finished the regular season in third place in district 7-2A DI with losses to De Leon and San Saba.

Crawford is having a down year by their standards, but they are no stranger to the playoffs and are a very dangerous team.

The last time Crawford lost to Riesel was in 1993 9-7, and the Pirates knocked the Indians out of the playoffs in bi-district last season 50-21.

The game is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 pm in Gatesville.

Troy (9-2, 6-1) vs Teague (5-5, 4-2)

The Trojans finished the regular season in second place of district 10-3A DI and their only district loss came against the champions Cameron Yoe 39-26.

Troy has surpassed their win total from the past two seasons combined and enter the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The Trojans outscored their district opponents 256-92 and enter the playoffs on a five game winning streak.

The Lions finished the regular season in third place with losses to Grandview and West.

Teague will enter the playoffs for the first time since 2013 with less than 9 wins, but their postseason experience could pay dividends.

The Lions and Trojans will be meeting for the first time ever. The game is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 in Mexia.

Grandview (8-2, 5-1) vs Rockdale (7-3, 4-2)

The Zebras finished the regular season in second place of district 9-3A DI, with their only loss coming to West 42-41 in overtime.

Grandview enters the playoffs on a 5 game winning streak, where they outscored those opponents 250-45.

The Zebras have made the playoffs four years straight and were knocked out in the quarterfinals last season by Kemp 13-10.

The Tigers finished the regular season in third place of district 10-3A DI, with loses to Cameron Yoe and Troy.

Rockdale is averaging 32.3ppg behind a balanced offensive attack that has put up 1,748 passing and 2,251 rushing yards this season.

The defending state champions have made the playoffs every year since 2012.

This will be the first time these two programs have met. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 pm at Waco’s WISD Stadium.

Lexington (7-2, 3-1) vs Palmer (7-2, 5-2)

The Eagles finished the regular season in second place of district 8-3A DII, with their only loss coming to district champs Clifton 27-19.

Lexington is led by senior RB Ja’kobe “Speedy” Cooper and junior MLB Aaron Miller.

Cooper has rushed for over 1,200 yards and 16TD, while Miller leads the team in tackles with over 127.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season in third place of district 7-3A DII, with loses to Buffalo and Edgewood.

Palmer averages 150.4 passing yards per game and 205.4 rushing yards per game.

Junior QB Adrian Cisneros is 57 of 118 for 1,032 yards and 13TD. The Bulldogs have seven different players with rushing touchdowns, including Cisneros with 5TD.

This is the first time these two programs have ever played. The game is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00pm in McGregor.

Belton (7-3, 6-2) vs Rockwall (7-2, 5-1)

The Tigers finished the regular season in third place of district 12-6A and join district foe Midway in the DI bracket.

Belton is relying on sophomore QB Ruben Jimenez to lead their offense, after senior QB Connor Carothers had a season ending shoulder injury against Killeen Ellison.

Jimenez is 28 of 51 for 421 yards and 6TD, while carrying the ball 12 times for 25 yards.

The Yellowjackets finished the regular season in second place of district 11-6A and join Mesquite in the DI bracket.

Rockwall is led by senior QB Jacob Clark and his favorite target, junior Jaxon Smith.

Clark is 153 of 238 for 2,585 yards and 27TD and has 42 carries for 62-yards and 9TD.

Smith has 75 receptions for 1,372 yards and 16TD, while carrying the ball 19 times for 156 yards and 4TD.

This is the first time these two programs have met. The game is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 pm in Rockwall.
