(Who will ever forget this one, as Roderick Dunn returns a Plano East kickoff 93-yards for a touchdown as the Lions pull off a miracle. Dunn, received the kickoff with 24-seconds left in the game, and crossed the goal-line with only 11-seconds remaining. This game earns national attention and it also wins numerous national awards, including a pair of ESPN “ESPY’s” for showstopper and game of the year. Plano East Cable TV broadcaster Mike Zoffuto, who was also the head football coach at Lake Highlands made the now famous comment after the touchdown…”I think I’m going to throw up….”. Zoffuto would later explain to me that his team, Lake Highlands had lost an earlier game to Plano East on a controversial call, and he wanted a chance for a rematch. Of course, a rematch that never occurred)
