HS Stats & Records Special Section

This section won't focus on returning starters and/or letterman, but more on the history of each coaching staff and the program. We'll give you a more personal look at the coaches, and athletes who've made an impact for their schools, all-time year-by-year records, which will include points scored, allowed, and who the coaches were during those years. We'll try and be as much an historical reference for approximately 140-plus programs, as anything else. I've always been a stats-aholic, and I've often wondered who are the all-time leaders for each school in various statistical categories.

Everytime I felt as if we had enough information to launch the special section, I'd want more...and I still do. We've secured information from historians, magazines, books, coaches, newspapers, and many others. Some of the historical information is incomplete, but once it's published I'm going to rely on everyone's feedback and help to fill in some of the blanks. I've been asked many times to get involved in something like this, and finally, I committed to its completion.

I'd like to thank the sponsors who are making this possible: Trinity Mother Frances Sportscare, Coca-Cola of Tyler, Tyler Ford and Dusty Rhoades Marine. And, a very special thanks to the following people who logged dozens of long hours helping this project become a reality: Cindy, Craig, and Jennifer Smoak, Randy Johnson, Daffydd Morgan, Jamie Lent, Alan Johnson and of course, the many coaches who took the time to fill out the questionnaire and predictions sheet.

However, I would like to voice my concern for the coaches who felt like this special section and the questionnaire was more of a nuisance than anything else. I decided to publish this special section for the thousands of East Texas high school football fans, but also for the coaches and their respective programs. Most coaches gave me a great deal of personal feedback and history, others gave me as much as they could considering the changeover at many high schools, while a small handful of coaches decided it was a bothersome task and you'll notice who those were based on the information available for each coaching staff.

I could've kept the overall number of programs to a minimum, but that's not me ... I want this section to include as many greater East Texas programs as possible.
