Texas High's Sorenson commits to Pokes...
Texas High junior quarterback Nathan Sorenson on Tuesday, gave his early verbal commitment to Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Sorenson is Oklahoma State's second commitment for 2010 and their first commit from a Texas player.
Sorenson completed 148-250 passes for 2,077-yards and 25-TD's, 5-Interceptions, and ran for 660-yards and 6-TD's on 98-carries in 2008.
Carthage's Smith double-signs with Navarro...
Carthage senior running back Dwight Smith, who on Wednesday signed with T.C.U., signed a scholarship on Friday with Navarro College.
Smith, a record-breaking running back, the Class 3-A Offensive Player of the Year, and the Smoaky.com Offensive Player of the Year, is waiting on test results from his latest ACT. Where he ends up, T.C.U. or Navarro, will depend on said results.
Ryan Young headed to US Air Force Academy
Sulphur Springs running back Ryan Young has accepted an invitation to attend the United States Air Force Academy.
Young, 5-8, 175, was named Class 4-A All-State, and 1st-Team All-Smoaky.com, and finished his senior year with 2,314-yards, 28-TD’s, 55-catches for 563-yards, 7-TD’s.
Young will attend the USAF Prep School his freshman year.
Carthage QB Blackshire commits to Kilgore
Carthage senior quarterback Si'Darius Blackshire has committed to play at Kilgore College.
Blackshire, 6-1, 220, completed 164-257 passes for 2,726 yards, 37-TD’s, and rushed for 3-TD’s, playing on an injured knee throughout the season. And because of that, Blackshire was named "Mr. Leadership," on the All-Smoaky.com team, and second-team QB, while also being named District Co-MVP, and All-State.
