Jefferson's Murphy commits to Colorado State (Posted by David Smoak)

Jefferson senior Trevor Murphy, a two-way starter on the offensive and defensive line has given a verbal commitment to play college football at Colorado State University.

He was recruited as a defensive lineman.

Murphy, 6-3, 285, has 34-tackles, 4-TFL's, 1-Sack, and 1-Caused Fumble through 8-games this season.

Murphy was a third-team All-Smoaky.com selection as an offensive lineman in 2008 after finishing with an 86%-blocking grade, 42-pancakes, and allowing only one sack.

Marshall linebacker Aaron Franklin has given his verbal commitment to Oklahoma for the football recruiting class of 2010.

Franklin, 6-1, 215, 4.5, chose Oklahoma over Texas.

He also had offers from Baylor, Nebraska, Stanford, S.M.U., Texas A&M, T.C.U., Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Utah, Missouri, Oregon, and North Carolina.

He missed his entire junior season due to a knee injury, but bounced back after rehab and ran track and went through football workouts without a problem during the spring.

Smoaky.com has learned via TechSportsUnleashed.com that Pleasant Grove athlete Antonio Graves and Texas High offensive lineman Ben Jackson have given their verbal commitments to Louisiana Tech for the football class of 2010.

There is now 29 East Texas high school football players committed to Division I universities for the class of 2010.

Longview wide receiver Carey Fortson has given his verbal commitment to play at Kansas University.

Fortson told KTBB's David Smoak, "I will visit Kansas in July, but I have given my verbal commitment to them, I like how they play, I like their offense, and they're in the Big XII," Fortson continued, "I have family up in the Kansas City area, so that will make it very comfortable for me."

Fortson, 6-1, 175, averaged 22-yards per catch on 28-receptions and 7-TD's as a junior.

Fortson becomes the 20th East Texan who has made a commitment to play Division 1-A football for the Class of 2010.

According to CougarsDen.com, Garrison offensive lineman Austin Lunsford gave his verbal commitment yesterday to Kevin Sumlin and the Houston Cougars for the Class of 2010.

Lunsford is the third East Texan to give Houston a verbal commitment in the past three days and the fourth overall.

He is also the 19th East Texan to make a verbal commitment to a Division-1 program for the Class of 2010.

Sulphur Springs defensive end Kedrick Dial has verbally committed to Texas Tech University. Dial, 6-5, 215, 4.7, is a speed rush specialist who ended 2008 with 7-sacks, 19-QB pressures, and 2-TFL's despite limited playing time.

Sulphur Springs head coach Greg Owens told KTBB's David Smoak, "Kedrick told me he'd commit to Tech at their spring game on Saturday, and he just did that," Owens continued, "here's a great athlete who has only played one year of football and was stuck behind some great players on our state championship team, he's a good basketball player too, Tech got a good one."

Cayuga junior Malcome Kennedy, 6-0, 189, told David Smoak, "I'm so excited about being an Aggie, I really liked this place the first time I came here, and there's no reason to waste any more time, I'm committed and I'm not going to take any more trips."

Kennedy also confirmed the Aggies want him to play wide receiver, "they told me they were recruiting me as a wide receiver, and they're going to give me a chance to play, that's all I can ask, is a chance."

Kennedy caught 47-passes for 763-yards, 10-TD�s his junior season, and also excelled on defense with 7-Interceptions, 2 of them returned for TD�s, 45-tackles, 3-TFL, 4-FR, 2-CF.

When informed of Malcome's commitment, Cayuga head coach Tommy Allison told Smoak, "That's great, I think Malcome and A&M is a great fit, good for him, the Aggies just got themselves a great player, but an even better person."

Kennedy was also scheduled to take trips to Tulsa and Stanford, but told Smoak, "No, I'm committed, a commitment is a commitment, and I'm not going anywhere else."

Texas High senior wide receiver Cobi Hamilton has committed to the University of Arkansas.

Hamilton, 6-3, 190, told David Smoak of KTBB Sports, "I have committed to Arkansas, and I'm very excited about this opportunity."

Hamilton, who recently visited The University of Texas, also told Smoak, "This was a very difficult decision, it was very hard."

Hamilton caught 64-passes for 1,071-yards and 14-TD's as a senior.

He was a first-team All-Smoaky.com selection.

Sulphur Springs' record-breaking quarterback Tyrik Rollison has given a verbal commitment to the Auburn Tigers.

Rollison, a Parade All-American, All-State, and the All-Smoaky.com Team Most Valuable Player, called the Auburn coaches on Tuesday morning, after visiting the campus over the weekend.

Rollison told KTBB Sports, "I was really looking at two other schools, but when Auburn got involved, and I got to know their environment and the players, I fell in love with everything." The No. 2 ranked dual-threat quarterback in America continued, "I am excited about this opportunity, and this continues a dream senior year for me."

He led Sulphur Springs to the Class 4-A Division II State Championship, throwing for 4,728-yards and 53-TD's, and rushing for 1,094-yards.
