Jefferson senior Trevor Murphy, a two-way starter on the offensive and defensive line has given a verbal commitment to play college football at Colorado State University.

He was recruited as a defensive lineman.

Murphy, 6-3, 285, has 34-tackles, 4-TFL's, 1-Sack, and 1-Caused Fumble through 8-games this season.

Murphy was a third-team All-Smoaky.com selection as an offensive lineman in 2008 after finishing with an 86%-blocking grade, 42-pancakes, and allowing only one sack.

T.C.U. has always done a really good job of finding gems in East Texas and on Sunday, they hit the "Daily-Double," getting verbal commitments from John Tyler athlete/wide receiver David Bush and safety Chris Hackett.

Bush, 5-11, 165, 4.5, and Hackett, 6-1, 174, 4.6 both visited Fort Worth on Saturday and made their commitments by the end of the weekend.

John Tyler head football coach Dereck Rush told Smoaky.com of Hackett's commitment on Monday morning, while Bush's commitment was first reported by Phil Hicks at the Tyler Paper.

Bush averaged 8.8 yards per carry and 13.2 yards per catch playing wide receiver and some quarterback during his junior season, and Hackett intercepted 3-passes, recorded 49-Tackles, 1-TFL, 6-PBU, and 2-Fumble Recoveries in 2009.

Hallsville offensive lineman Josh Cochran has given his verbal commitment to play at the University of Texas.

Cochran, one of many potential recruits visiting Austin this weekend confirmed his commitment by text to David Smoak while adding, "They offered, I committed," Cochran added, "I've been a Texas fan all of my life and having the chance to play for the Longhorns is a dream come true."

Cochran is a 6-6, 270-pound pile driver with quick feet who has exploded onto the national recruiting scene in recent weeks.

Cochran also told Smoak, "Our entire family has always followed UT football, and we've tried to get down to at least one game each year since I was a young kid," Cochran continued, "Now, the family can come to Austin and feel right at home more than ever, I sure do."

Cochran also had official offers from Texas A&M, Arkansas, T.C.U., Houston, and S.M.U., among many other programs who had been by the Hallsville fieldhouse.

Gilmer record-breaking quarterback Darian Godfrey signed a national letter-of-intent with the University of New Mexico on Wednesday.

Godfrey, who visited New Mexico last weekend, finished his career with a sparkling 41-3 record as a starter including the 2009 Class 3-A Division I State Championship. He finished his career with 9,390-yards passing and 116-TD's and scored another 55-TD's rushing.

Jenkins, 6-4, 175, 4.5, will most likely play both football and baseball for the Bears. He is a legitimate pro baseball prospect and could be selected during the June Amateur Draft.

Fortson told KTBB's David Smoak, "I will visit Kansas in July, but I have given my verbal commitment to them, I like how they play, I like their offense, and they're in the Big XII," Fortson continued, "I have family up in the Kansas City area, so that will make it very comfortable for me."

Cayuga's Kennedy "I've committed to A&M" (Posted by David Smoak)

Cayuga junior Malcome Kennedy, 6-0, 189, told David Smoak, "I'm so excited about being an Aggie, I really liked this place the first time I came here, and there's no reason to waste any more time, I'm committed and I'm not going to take any more trips."

Kennedy also confirmed the Aggies want him to play wide receiver, "they told me they were recruiting me as a wide receiver, and they're going to give me a chance to play, that's all I can ask, is a chance."

Kennedy caught 47-passes for 763-yards, 10-TD�s his junior season, and also excelled on defense with 7-Interceptions, 2 of them returned for TD�s, 45-tackles, 3-TFL, 4-FR, 2-CF.

When informed of Malcome's commitment, Cayuga head coach Tommy Allison told Smoak, "That's great, I think Malcome and A&M is a great fit, good for him, the Aggies just got themselves a great player, but an even better person."

Kennedy was also scheduled to take trips to Tulsa and Stanford, but told Smoak, "No, I'm committed, a commitment is a commitment, and I'm not going anywhere else."

Tyler Lee's Chris Dinkins has given a verbal commitment to play for the T.C.U. Horned Frogs.

Dinkins, 6-1, 195, who is working out at quarterback this spring, is being recruited as a defensive back. He intercepted two passes in 2008, and returned a fumble for a touchdown against DeSoto.

Dinkins becomes the second Red Raider to commit to T.C.U., along with linebacker Blake Roberts.

Sulphur Springs defensive back Bryant Jackson has given his verbal commitment to play college football for Mack Brown and the Texas Longhorns.

Jackson becomes one of four East Texans to give a verbal to Texas for the 2010 class along with Cayuga's Traylon Shead, Lufkin's Carrington Byndom, and Daingerfield's Chris Jones.

Lufkin junior safety Carrington Byndom has given his verbal commitment to play college football at the University of Texas.

Byndom, 6-0, 180, was a second-team All-Smoaky.com selection his junior season after recording 79-tackles and intercepting three passes.

Verbal commitments aren't non-binding until National Signing Day in February, 2010.

Tyler Lee junior linebacker Blake Roberts has committed to play at Texas Christian University.

He will be apart of the Horned Frogs Class of 2010.

Roberts, 6-3, 214, recorded 119-tackles, 8-QB pressures, 4-sacks, 7-TFL, 2-CF, 1-Interception, as a junior, and was a 3rd-Team All-Smoaky.com selection.

Roberts told David Smoak, "This place is amazing, great facilities, and I'm blown away by my visit," Roberts continued, "I am so pumped-up to be a future member of the Horned Frogs."

Texas High junior quarterback Nathan Sorenson on Tuesday, gave his early verbal commitment to Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Sorenson is Oklahoma State's second commitment for 2010 and their first commit from a Texas player.

Sorenson completed 148-250 passes for 2,077-yards and 25-TD's, 5-Interceptions, and ran for 660-yards and 6-TD's on 98-carries in 2008.

Carthage senior running back Dwight Smith, who on Wednesday signed with T.C.U., signed a scholarship on Friday with Navarro College.

Smith, a record-breaking running back, the Class 3-A Offensive Player of the Year, and the Smoaky.com Offensive Player of the Year, is waiting on test results from his latest ACT. Where he ends up, T.C.U. or Navarro, will depend on said results.

Sulphur Springs running back Ryan Young has accepted an invitation to attend the United States Air Force Academy.

Young, 5-8, 175, was named Class 4-A All-State, and 1st-Team All-Smoaky.com, and finished his senior year with 2,314-yards, 28-TD�s, 55-catches for 563-yards, 7-TD�s.

Young will attend the USAF Prep School his freshman year.

Carthage senior quarterback Si'Darius Blackshire has committed to play at Kilgore College.

Blackshire, 6-1, 220, completed 164-257 passes for 2,726 yards, 37-TD�s, and rushed for 3-TD�s, playing on an injured knee throughout the season. And because of that, Blackshire was named "Mr. Leadership," on the All-Smoaky.com team, and second-team QB, while also being named District Co-MVP, and All-State.

Carthage running back Dwight Smith has committed to Texas Christian University, and will sign with the Horned Frogs on Wednesday.

Smith, 5-11, 222, burst upon the scene as a senior while helping the Bulldogs win the Class 3-A, Division I State Championship.

Smith rushed for 2,820-yards and 41-TD's on 239-carries, caught 2-TD passes, and broke single season school records for rushing yards and TD's, he was the District Co-MVP, All-State, TSWA All-State Offensive Player of the Year, and All-Smoaky.com Player of the Year along with 1st-Team All-Smoaky.com.

Two gifted and multi-dimensional athletes from Tenaha, Marlon McClure and Camaron Choice, will sign with UT-El Paso on Wednesday.

McClure, a wide receiver and defensive back, 33-catches for 635-yards, 12-TD�s, and ran for 745-yards on 84-carries, 15-TD�s, District Offensive Co-MVP, All-State, 2nd-Team All-Smoaky.com. McClure was also honored throughout his career as a defensive back.

Choice rushed for 1,072-yards and 16-TD's on 101-carries, was the District Offensive MVP, and Honorable Mention All-Smoaky.com. Defensively, Choice recorded 87-tackles, 15-TFL, and 2-Interceptions, and was also Honorable Mention All-Smoaky.com as an outside linebacker.

Sulphur Springs' record-breaking quarterback Tyrik Rollison has given a verbal commitment to the Auburn Tigers.

Rollison, a Parade All-American, All-State, and the All-Smoaky.com Team Most Valuable Player, called the Auburn coaches on Tuesday morning, after visiting the campus over the weekend.

Rollison told KTBB Sports, "I was really looking at two other schools, but when Auburn got involved, and I got to know their environment and the players, I fell in love with everything." The No. 2 ranked dual-threat quarterback in America continued, "I am excited about this opportunity, and this continues a dream senior year for me."

He led Sulphur Springs to the Class 4-A Division II State Championship, throwing for 4,728-yards and 53-TD's, and rushing for 1,094-yards.
