What do you expect to be your team's biggest strength this season? : Overall understanding of both Offense and Defensive scheme with this being our staff's second year here. Also have a good returning core group of Seniors.
What do you see as your team's biggest concern this season? : Depth - solidifying the QB position.
List all previous head coaching & assistant coaching experience. : Jeremy Mullins - 4 yrs as Coordinator at Fort Worth Boswell. 6 yrs as Coordinator at Merkel High School.
List any state titles you've been a part of as a head coach, assistant coach, or player in any sport. :
High School : Merkel High School
College/University : Eastern New Mexico University
What has been your most exciting moment or game in your coaching career? : Beating Littlefield in the Area Round in 2012. They had a great group. I was DC for dad (Kieth Mullins) and my little brother was a Senior on team QB and Safety. Great game and awesome experiencing it with family.
Are your football games broadcast on the radio? : Granbury has a guy that comes out and streams it live online.
I am always looking for a great human interest or unique story, please share that information with me. : I come from a family of coaches. My granddad (Franky Don Mullins) was a HFC for many years, retired in early 90's. My dad (Kieth Mullins) was a HFC for many years. I played for dad and then got of school and worked for him at Merkel. My first year coaching my granddad also coached with us that year, pretty neat experience (many interesting coaches office debates!) also had two little brothers playing for us at the time. Fast forward to this year, my dad is our OC here in Tolar. I talked him into leaving UMHB to come help me get this going here (pretty good guy!). We have also just hired my youngest brother to coach QBs and Safety's. My youngest brother (Baylor Mullins), just finished up at UMHB, he was an All-American Strong Safety there and him and dad both were part of the National Championship team. So pretty unique I would think to get to work for dad out of college and then to be lucky enough to have him come and work for me.
What is the biggest challenge facing Texas High School Football right now? : Though I think we are doing better in battling this I still think the specialization factor hurts some. Too many kids missing out on a great High School athletic experience due to specializing in one sport.
