  1. I will support any D9 team that faces Newton but all these statements are on point. West Rusk will put some points on the board but it wont be near enough to make it close. Newton could have put 80 on us easy last night and I was really afraid that was going to happen when the starters were still playing deep in the 3rd quarter. after seeing Newton last night in person I truly feel there is not a 3a team that can go toe to toe with them for 4 quarters.

  2. It is irritating how ppl gripe and complain at the beginning of every game when we aren't winning 35-0 at half and also gripe between games and then When we dominate and crush someone by end of game there is no credit given...prolly won't be but it is still annoying heard a guy yell "put that kid on the bench" after the bad series from Haynes it just makes me mad cAuse kid deserves a lot of credit...the ignorance of some ppl great job coaches and players tonight!

  5. When I was in high school I always dreaded the last regular season game and every playoff game to a certain extent. Late in the fourth quarter you can tell who the seniors are on the losing team. It's a terrible sight and feeling knowing that a whole lot of young men just like you are playing their last downs of football ever. Watching the emotion flow always bothered me. Idk why I felt compelled to make this post but I'm 100% sure everyone of us felt that pain. God bless football.

  7. Is District 10 good? No, not really! Is district 9 good? No, not really! There is only one dominant team between the two. Sounds like a great game here, though. Good job, Garrison.

  12. A private school that won their right in court several years ago to be included in the Texas Public school playoffs after being kicked out by their governing body at that time, the T.exas A.ssociation of P.rivate and P.arochial S.chools (TAPPS). Their initial year included into the U.I.L. playoffs (2004) we played them and skull drugged them before a packed house in a playoff game 42-14 at Ennis Lions Stadium in Ennis, Texas.

  14. None taken. Anyone who remembers me I show up over here every year for my annual right of passage thru Smoaky forum hazing. Silsbee is all Jeckyl and Hyde this year. I can go down the list of excuses if you want.... you've heard them all before, but I will not insult true football knowledgeable people. Truth - We lost to Newton, WOS, Shadow Creek and yes... LCM. Probably their best game of the season. Firing on all cylinders that night while we were still moping from an embarrassing performance the previous Saturday. Then Coach made some changes... You say you have to see us beat someone out of our own district? What does that prove? Nothing. Probably the same thing that losing to each other in District 9 does.... according to some of the other threads.. You have your own issues with district foes and all that proves is that familiarity is a weapon on some Friday nights, especially if its an off night. Example: If Carthage had played Kilgore, Henderson, Center, Navasota or Silsbee last night would they have won with that 1st half performance? If so... by how much? Ill take Silsbee being a mystery to their opponents... might be what we need. Regardless of what your opinion is of Newton, Jasper, WOS...etc., they ALL won their District and could probably beat half the teams in both our Districts. One thing for sure... we are a playoff team, tested against teams with mettle of their own. Better hope its Jeckyl that shows up......and not Hyde.

  15. I like Sealy in a close one. All the talk about North Forest as undefeated and state ranked is wishful thinking. Some say “But they have D1 prospects”. Last year Carthage beat them 41-6 and it could have been 100-6. Don’t get me wrong they have good size and athleticism and pass the eye test. But raw talent is not enough to beat disciplined teams with just as much talent. If North Forest gets by Sealy, Henderson will beat them by 21+.

  18. Missed the point. Silsbee doesnt rely on the speed of their wide receivers. They capitalize on it when you start to creep in for the run game. They are comfortable with 7-8 in the box. Take the 3-5 yds, though lately its been more like 8-12 yds, per carry with the sophomores. Its not a spread you out and pass deep offense, though it can be and has been at times. Coach Smith loves the ground game. Takes a real good disciplined defense to stop it and if you need 7-8 in the box to do it, its only a matter of time. But.... if its passing we need... Jacob Collins School: Silsbee Completions: 91 Attempts: 151 Yards: 1268 Touchdowns: 11 Interceptions: 3 That can happen as well.

  19. Three games in the Big 12 that could impact OU. KSU, Tech and Texas all sitting at .500 and are all underdogs. If those three lose, OU will only have 3 wins over teams with winning records. TCU vs Tech wasn't all that interesting entering the week. We knew TCU was going to have to win out to make the Big 12 championship and would probably play with some fire. However, they have since lost their starting RB and now Kenny Hill is out with a concussion. Things could get weird in Lubbock. Texas travels to Morgantown to play a WVU team that is riiiiiight on the fence of being ranked by the CFP. Texas needs to win one of their next two to become bowl eligible, and I think that W has to wait another week. Kansas State at Oklahoma State. Should be a blowout for OSU. The stuff going on with Kansas State is pretty crazy right now. ICYMI: Link Iowa State takes on Baylor after dropping two heart breakers in a row. Aside from the three I mentioned losing, an Iowa State loss would be a big hit to OU's schedule too. Iowa State is two wins away from an 8-4 regular season and losing their coach to the SEC. Speaking of the SEC... Outside of A&M at Ole Miss, every other game is a cupcake. I guess Georgia and Kentucky might be interesting for 5 minutes. A&M has lost 3 of their last 4 SEC games, but should pull this out. UCLA vs USC. Battle for the Browns QB spot next year. Don't really care, hope they both throw 100 interceptions. Always enjoy seeing USC lose, though. Probably won't happen. SMU get the chance to knock off a ranked team on the road vs #21 Memphis Notre Dame better not be hungover from that beating. They host Navy. Could be an interesting one to watch. #19 NC State at Wake Forest will be another game that oddly matters to the top 4. If Wake Forest wins, Clemson and Notre Dame lose another ranked opponent. Really though, the only game that isn't expected to be a blowout that will matter to the CFP this week is Michigan at Wisconsin. Wisconsin beat their first ranked team last week, and knocked them out of the rankings. If they beat #24 Michigan, that will happen again. Wisconsin has the edge in every stat that could matter, but Michigan has at least been tested. Who knows. #BakerforHeisman. Don't care how many OU scores vs Kansas, the only objective should be to pitch a shutout.

  25. This Mumphrey kid that has emerged as our #1 tailback over the last few weeks... he's something else. He goes about 5'10" - 160 lbs (soaking wet). Wears glasses underneath his helmet. He's not going to run over many tacklers, and he's not going to juke anybody out of their shoes.... but good lort he can crease a defense. He averages 11 yds a touch and has scored 19 TD's... while sharing carries with 4-5 other guys. I have seen him catch an option pitch with one hand, behind his head, at full speed and turn it in to a 20-yd run. Twice.

  28. Goes without saying.... that was the best football game Kilgore has played all year. The defense was not perfect on the stat sheet, but they were perfect on the scoreboard... and they even scored a TD. The offense only had 7 possessions all night and scored 6 TD's. Special teams were outstanding... pinned 'em deep all night, downed a punt at the 1, returned a punt to their 10. We play on.

  30. Henrietta has a special player - West I believe his name is. Gunter's defense swarms to the ball and has been relentless. In the first half we could not tackle West. He gave us problems for a while last year too. Gunter had the ball 6 minutes in the first half. West is a strong, thick quarterback that is very smart and plays with all he's got. My hat goes off to him. Gunter was also missing a couple of key starters. The backup QB played very well (Gunter scored on every possession other than killing the game and a fumble was lost) but our defensive end (starting QB) who gave West the most hits last year was out. Another key defensive player coming off a concussion a few weeks ago played sparingly but did get a pick in the 3rd quarter that started Gunter's blowout. Final Gunter 45 Henrietta 13

  31. Congrats to Waskom. Talented group and they played hard tonight. Good luck next week. I love playing football on Thanksgiving break but it just wasn’t meant to be this year. Great turn around for the program Hornets. Congrats on a good season!

  33. I'd have to ask him. Was 4.4 as a soph but no idea what it is now. He's fast enough to beat almost everyone out the blocks just uses the 2nd gear to catch them and then hits top speed to outrun those that might get ahead of him. He gets a running start you better be fast AND have the RIGHT angle on the gridiron. Lowe is actually faster in the 40 time but just don't have the reach that Barnes has. Still if Lowe gets the edge, few fast enough to catch him as well.

  34. Thank goodness for the Dawg D because the offense has not got here yet. I bet a dollar to a doughnut the offense and the QB get an ear full. You will see the real Dawg offense shows up in the second half.

  42. Just for the sake of common sense, who gives someone 132 million dollars? What do you think they were wanting in return? The donor had Obvious ties to uranium one company and gives that amount of money for nothing? I know people can run around issues and go through the details of how it is supposedly not a pay for play. But no one disputes Hillary getting a donation from a guy with ties to uranium one. And that's all the evidence needed to open an investigation and find the paper trail.
