I call him party pooper. Always running in with those stats when I’m making some valid points. How am i supposed to contend with that?? . But he’s the best at it. No denying that. We could be discussing those dang chicken sandwiches and he’s going to run in with some stats (lord knows where he got them from) to show us statistics on both. I just want to know which one is better 07. Eat it and tell me! Don’t give me every stat on each since the 50s. It ain’t that serious

Don't know the details of the Marshall QB not on the team, I read the article. However, sometimes things like this can bring a team together as well. No matter how talented someone is for you, if they are the elephant in the room, then maybe this change is good.

I've thought Red Clapper should have already been gone. With the talent we have even with possible TE issues (which I don't think there is) we should contend for a Super Bowl this year. Anything less, and I would fire him. Either this is the team that can do it, or he simply can't put a game plan in order with his coordinators. No NFC Championship game, and I'd get rid off the entire coaching staff, unless major injuries happen on many fronts. We have the offensive power locked, and the defensive power locked and loaded. If they can't fire, then it is on the coaching staff.

I don't really think he does it to fill the stadium. He just loves to be the best at what he does. He loves winning football games and teaching kids how to play. As long as the fire is still burning and they pay him to coach and leave him alone, he'll keep coaching.

A little follow up story on the young man making those shots I posted above. Two weeks ago, we took him up to Hancock, Mi. He got a good partial scholarship to Finlandia University, a small private Lutheran school. Hancock is located in what’s known as the UP (Upper Peninsula) directly above Wisconsin. The UP extends out into Lake Superior, and town gets 250” of snow a year. Yep, G’pa is proud.

Yes we have been having that type of climate change for 200 years or more and will continue to have it for the next 200 years or so.

People remember. Hasn’t been that long ago. I agree that collectively fans are not as energized as those 1st couple years. In big games and the playoffs people show up to represent for Carthage. It just takes a much bigger game now to get the fan base up. Tbh Carthage has always had pretty quite fan base that you really couldn’t count on to fill a stadium every week. Surratt pretty much runs his part of the community. He can do whatever he wants. And he is paid a king’s ransom. I think he deserves everything he gets. He is one of the best in the country. Most in the community hope he stays forever and will do whatever is needed to keep him here. It’s up to him what he does in the future.

The reality is this head coach really can make Marshall into a consistent threat for their region and state every year if they will stick with him...he is going to be a great head coach and will build whatever program that supports him...East Texas doesn’t get this type of talent at head coach often....hope he is supported...

Ill just say this. If Griedl can hold the team together after the Lee debacle and through the JJ drama and after the whoopins we are about to receive the next couple of weeks then ill be the first to give him the credit because he will truly deserve it. But anything less than an undefeated district championship will be a disappointment.

Hopefully the Riders can slow down Jefferson. Tatum was a bad football team....no pun intended Tatum fans. I know y’all have been young for the past 5 years but darn......I’m gonna need y’all to stop using that as an excuse, keep a Coach, and come out and be the Tatum you used to be. If the kid is big enough to be so undisciplined, he can’t get his head on straight enough to hold down his job as the teams starting QB, then it is what it is. Lay it out there. What’s really sad is that the head coach was on staff last year so he knows the kid and how he acts. I heard something serious happened last spring. He should’ve cut him loose then. He’s a young head coach so he will learn by trial and error. You don’t have to answer questions to the media. Just say you aren’t talking about it and move on to the next question. Unfortunately this will be made into a bigger deal than what it should be. With the Netflix series, all the locker updates being put on ESPN’s twitter, it’s the coach who’s putting the pressure on himself. Now he has deliver! Just my 2 cents!

Today’s world just about makes everything a racial issue. It’s not my business, but from everything I’ve read out on media platforms, the kid just really had no discipline. It’s sad, especially when one is talented like that. I’m sure Marshall will be fine moving forward. Good luck to y’all

I imagine the local media called him and asked him about it point blank. Not answering truthfully would have looked shady. They called. Asked if JJ was still with the team. He said no.... we have moved forward with another plan. I doubt he called them to make the announcement. But any other answer would have looked like he or the school was trying to hide something. They clearly had nothing to hide. And anyone paying attention knows that multiple chances have been given and nothing seems to change. What’s sad is that some are making this a racial issue. Which is absolutely ridiculous.

For some odd reason I always get a little uneasy playing in Nacogdoches. Not sure why that might be except the fact that the Dragons take this game so seriously, Lufkin just doesn't look at this game in the same way as Nac does and that is no disrespect to the Dragons. Over the years the intensity and anticipation for the Panthers has waned a bit. It's easy to let down after playing such an emotional game with Longview, so I guess that's what weighs on my mind. Can't take Nacogdoches for granted.

Yea, don’t understand why it had to be made public like that. Not sure the new HC is doing things the right way if it’s true about what he did with the fans and now this... I read the article online. I will just say some things need to stay in house. He’s not a pro player or a college athlete. Still a high school kid. If he’s off then get rid of him quietly. After hearing the stories, sounds like he probably should’ve been gone last year. Good luck to the new kid that now has the job.

Wow such a shame. Reminds me of a similar situation in LE back in 2015. No one player can be above the team no matter how good he is. I’m sure the community will be split on this but kudos to the new coach for standing his ground. Hopefully QB2 will have the full support of the team and will get up to speed quickly.

Soooo. JJ is out. This shocks no one really. TBH, it was more of a shock It’s lasted as long as it has. Unlike his predecessor, there are consequences to breaking team rules with our coach now. Broken team rules... not once Not twice. But several times. Losing your right to spring ball should have been a wake up call. Missing out on 7 on 7 should have been another. He was only suppose to be suspended this week Vs Longview.... but some were unwilling to accept that (pretty minor slap on the wrist) punishment. Now it’s over. One person cannot be above the rest of the team. I support this decision 100%. No matter how difficult it may be to accept. Got away with murder the last two seasons. Gravy train is done. IMHO.... we’re still much better than everyone in our district. Even without him. We probably won’t reflect that this week or next. It’ll be ugly. Survive it and move on to the games that matter. Things will be in order in time for Lindale/district. It was a tough decision to make. It was the correct one IMHO. I still believe in this team. And this staff.

I need to go back to 2013/2014 game threads just to see what 007 did after those games. Holy moly.

Other than those few 1-9 years when JT had about 17 people in the stands, I agree. The next year when JT was 8-1 and Longview was 9-0, there were 15,000 people there. It was CRAZY. I agree, though. Beating Marshall, JT, Lee, and Lufkin is ALWAYS nice. That said, the Lobos were chasing ONE thing recently, and that was a state title. That was the ONE thing we didn't have on our resume recently that opposing fans uses against us. We have done extremely well vs JT, Lee, Lufkin, and Marshall (all teams who have won state in the last 30 years, mind you). So yeah, while a win over JT in Week 3 is a great thing, or a win over Lufkin on Fox Sports is REALLY cool, it kinda felt devalued when the ONE thing we were missing was a state championship, you know?

They really can't count the one from 1930. It was not JT then. It was just Tyler Schools. And all the nonsense we had to listen to from them about 1937 this and that, they certainly can't claim it just because of the time frame, even if it was their school then.
