  2. Been hearing a lot about a new and improved ND defense...think they’ll get a nice test against Alto. Will be a bit more speed out there than what Harmony and White Oak can trot out. If I recall correctly High (Alto RB) went for like 420 last year against ND. I think Alto had 3 td passes last night. If they are able to turn the corner in the pass game consistently then wow! Everyone knows they can run the ball...if they add a consistent threat in the pass game, yikes!

  5. My two cents. I have been Dawg football for a very long time. This Dawg D seems to be so focused and determined to prove that last year was a disappointment, not so much for not winning the state championship but because they gave up so many rushing and passing yards. They knew they could have done better. I could be wrong but this group of Dawgs wants to go down as the best Dawg defense of them all. I can’t see a single weakness. The D line is big, tall, and fast. They interrupt the opposing teams O line blocking scheme, apply major pressure on the QB’S, and stop the run. The three linebackers have play as good as the 2017 group. I never thought I would ever see a trio like the 2017 group. I know before some of you start Dawging me, it is only two games against team that may not be very good. Let me ask you this. Name another (starting players) Dawg team that has allowed 16 yards and minus 9 yards in two games. I can’t and I have seen every Dawg team since 1968. I don’t care how bad a team is minus yards is unheard of in today’s football. The secondary is tall, fast, cover receivers extremely well, and will come up on run plays and lay the wood. I am excited to see how they do against Marshall, Gilmer, and PG. The Dawg Offense are getting better and better every time the ball is snapped. I have feeling that by the time district starts, we Dawg fans are going to witness something very special. Min my opinion this is the biggest Dawg O line they have ever had. My gosh they look like 4th year college players. They give great pass protection and pancake the hell out the opposition when they run the ball. The QB has a dang cannon but can throw a perfect short pass on screens with touch last but not least, the wide receivers are as good as any in the state and I don’t care what classification you want to mention if this Dawg team continues to get better every game, it is going to be a team we talk about for a long time Lets Go Dawgs!!!!!!! God Bless coaches, players, and fans.

  6. I don't know why y'all didn't go to bat for y'all kids back in the early 2000's when they came up with that mess. We BOTH know what it was all about and it's F'd up, too. But, y'all let them folks run that BS system and when it went to the supreme court, it was a done deal. That's how Lee ended up with their state title. For example, there's no way in hell if you reside on 2nd Street off of Glennwood Ave. that you should be going to Lee.

  7. The Alto Yellowjackets (2-0) host the New Diana Eagles (2-0) for Homecoming 2019 in pre-district action on Friday the 13th! The Jackets won 32-14 last year in New Diana. Both teams come into this game looking to stay undefeated. The Jackets have defeated Palestine Westwood 28-20 and Timpson 45-0 while New Diana handily defeated Harmony 44-14 and White Oak 34-14 in statement games. This looks like an Eagle team that is on a roll! The Jackets, meanwhile found their groove in Week 2 playing with fewer penalties and turnovers. Who wins this game? Can’t imagine the Mean Sting losing a homecoming game, but it will definitely be a Battle Royale!

  10. These last two teams you played are not considered good? Thankfully, your district this year looks weaker than last year. That will help you. Bottom line is your totally surprised that Lee is kicking your tail.

  18. Until we find our offensive identity without JJ at QB..... we will not be favored in another game. I don't care if it's Longview, Carthage, Mount Pleasant, Hallsville, or the Texas School for the Blind. We are recovering from a near fatal wound. It's gut-check time. I still believe in this team..... and this staff. But playing the likes of Longview and Carthage aren't the best choices to be finding oneself. We got 2 weeks to figure it out. I'm aware that 7 on 7 isn't the same as fall ball..... but one of our back-up QB's had a pretty strong season in 7 on 7 against some quality teams. We need to find that rhythm again. It'll come together. Just a matter of when.

  19. when the make up of school board doesn't reflect the make up of the schools, what can you do. Honestly LISD school board is in a similar situation, but yall only have one high school. If yall had two, you would probably experience the same thing. But that's how it is. The US congress doesn't reflect the make up of America either...lol, so you just roll with what you have. JT will be ok. Good freshman class and they will have alot of starters returning next yr.

  22. What a game this was. 4 lead changes I believe. Both teams played very well. Both teams had their share of turnovers as well. Gladewater's QB was throwing dimes all night. Some of his throws couldn't have been more perfect. Even when Atlanta's coverage was good, he could put the ball in just the right place. If he couldn't throw, he would use his legs. I don't think Atlanta ever managed to sack him or stop him behind the line. #8 did get hurt and didn't play the 2nd half. I'm not exactly sure how much that hurt GW though. He wasn't really beating us up on the ground anyways, it was mainly as a wideout. That being said, it didn't seem to matter who Gladewater put at wideout, because the QB could float it just right. They only missed on a couple in the 2nd half. Overall, Atlanta's defense played pretty good. They were extremely physycal, all night. They were having fun, and didn't seem to tire out. On Gladewater's last drive even, several of the kids were dancing to the band music. GW did have a little luck running, but their bread and butter was the fade. They beat us so many times just throwing a fade. There were a couple of times the Atlanta defender even had his hand on the ball and the GW receiver came down with it. It was wild. Atlanta's offense, man do they look improved. Our QB was actually making plays. He often held the ball too long, but would still find an open receiver. QB play was night and day difference from last week. We also threw different looks in that I really liked, and we had success with. All of our RBs played extremely well. #5 did a good job of cutting and making guys miss, and then #8 came in the grind out and finish the job. We even got to see our sophomore RB #25 come in and make some plays. Atlanta's biggest issue through the first half was DROPPING PASSES. Holy smokes did they drop some wide-open passes. Our QB made a heck of a throw, around 50-60 yards in the air, and hit the wideout right in the numbers on the goal line... bloop. More so than anything, I think Gladewater's special teams was their biggest flaw. A muffed punt, and fumbling all but maybe 1 kickoff it seemed. I'd be willing to bet that Gladewater's started on average inside their own 20, or at least more times than not. Either way, contrary to prior belief, I think these teams are very evenly matched. We're either both really good, or both really bad. We'll know more when district gets here.

  23. I went to the D'field/Gunter game last week to see a good game (I'm not from either town) and wasn't disappointed. I've held off posting just to read the reactions from last weeks game from both sides...what a difference...Tatum lost to a team that most believed they would beat and D'field lost in the last seconds to a state ranked team. Not one Tatum fan was calling for the coaches firing, just posted things the team needed to improve on. On the other hand, Dangerfield was calling for the head coaches head, and hiring someone that was in the stands. What a difference. I have recently retired after almost 25 years of coaching boys and girls both and all sports and I know one thing for sure...when the kids come home after practice and they hear how pathetic, sorry and ignorant the coaches are you can bet the kids are going to think and behave in the same manner. Should Dangerfield have beaten Gunter? Maybe, but the teams with the best athletes don't always win. So often it is the teams with good athletes but most importantly have the most discipline and conditioning that will win. Those are the two things that Dangerfield lacked and both are fixable...what is NOT fixable is parents and fans telling players it is all the coaches fault...sorry folks but the busted plays, mental mistakes and penalties because they were either tired or to lazy to give the effort to block and tackle correctly (holding/illegal procedure, personal fouls ect ect) are NOT the coaches fault. Yes, Dangerfield has some good athletes but if they don't perform at the level they should or carry out a play like they were coached to do, an average athlete that does those things better will win. I think Dangerfield will bounce back and win tonight but if the community doesn't get behind the coaching staff there will be strife all year long and more disappointing losses. Just my two cents, and it's probably not worth that much!! Good luck to both teams, wish I could come watch this one!

  25. Former Dfield homer, but I just got to say how does someone give up 21-0 league and get beat, I mean I was at the game the Coach is running the same 3 or 4 plays and is so suspect man, it’s like this Head Coach thinks he’s playing the computer against madden like cmon man. Get this guy gone. We need discipline and them players have none. Got all that talent but just wasting it cause Gunter wasn’t even close to them athletically. This guy is as cluck man. Not the Daingerfield I know and remember!

  27. I think the 100 year of Alto facts came out when you called it an “easy” win. It was a win, I’ll give you that. But, 35-20 has nothing on the records you can see for yourself. No, we aren’t where we have been in the past, but we have definitely been on the come up since this “easy” win in which you are referring. Super pumped to see what this year holds for us!

  34. EF was up 41-14 and then put in backups on the DL. 79, 79, 57 all were backups. When they were in, Harmony ran right up the middle for long TD's to make the score closer in the 4th qt. EF had a lot of nicked up injuries, so instead of worrying about the margin of victory, they decided to put in the backups. #4 the stud MLB also sat the last 2 possessions. add tot he fact #7 the other LB had to sit the final 3 possessions with a maybe concussion and #5 sitting the final 3 quarters who is their best player and also the SS, it wasn;t hard to see how Harmony ran up the middle with backup DL in the game, a freshman and soph backups at LB and Soph backup SS in the game for 3 quarters. Add to the fact that to start the game starting DE #1 and starting RT/DT didn't even dress EF has a lot of guys nicked up and for 3 qts dominated the game, coaching staff decided to try to still win the game and not risk further injurys to their starters in a non district game. Some people who never come to games and show up to 1 game ever 2-3 years not a practice ever in 4-5 years though know exactly what is gong on with the team and staff. But hey, free world to talk out your rear and have maybe 1-2 people on a message board think you have a clue what goes on inside the EF program. My son is on the team so I have just a little insight.
