I mean, they do hold, all the time. And this would be the equivalent of saying "Do not hold, not even in the parking lot. If you do hold, we're going to call the game at halftime." You can say what you wish about "rules" but it's too far. If you can't stand outside the fence, outside the stadium, and watch the game without a mask, then it's gone too far. The police literally wouldn't even detain him because it was so ridiculous. That's not even why they called the game, but I have my own reservations about that even being true. I can imagine the superintendent was pretty upset when the police pretty much told him that it was stupid. Perfect excuse to go on our power trip after everyone, including the man standing probably 50+ feet from the nearest human being told you how imbecilic that is.4 points

The guy wasn't even inside the stadium. This is ridiculous. Cancel a game because of a fan who won't put on a mask who isn't even inside the gate but yet it's ok to let kids play a game with no mask or social distancing. That makes tons of sense.3 points

I don’t disagree with you at all. We are allowed to make whatever choices we want. I choose to do whatever is asked of me to be able to go watch my family participate on Friday nights.2 points

Sure, having a President saying he’s going to raise taxes (btw, you can forget that $400K bs), appoint “Hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15”, Beto to gun control, and Bernie to Healthcare. That’ll make me want to vote for him.2 points

Where do you personally draw the line at “just follow the rules”? What if the school says you can’t sit next to your black friend? What if it says you have to wear sit the whole time without making any noise? What if it says for the safety of others, you have to watch from your car in the parking lot? you understand why there are people who don’t want to become a society of “just follow the rules”, right? Its unAmerican...2 points

The taxpayers pay the property taxes for the school grounds which to me is different from abiding by someone’s personal residence rules.2 points

I mean, if my son was on that field, and I didn't agree with why I was being asked to leave, especially when I'm not doing anything wrong really, I can't say I'd be so peaceful about it either. I'd probably throw in a few words, make it known I pay my taxes and it's a public school, and I'd probably make them show me where it's a rule that I have to wear a mask even if I'm standing outside the fence being a threat to absolutely nobody. That's just my opinion. Hope it never comes to that here.2 points

Many laws we have are just that. Inconsistent and sometimes make little sense. Again I am not arguing that the rule is good or bad. But it is a rule on the school's grounds. He is a visitor, he should follow their rules. I compare this to when I go to someone's house I abide by their rules even if I think they might have a dumb rule or two.2 points

I think lots of people are wanting to see the 9th grade guys play. Thanks to WP4L for all his updates on them!2 points

What a joke. The man was standing outside the fence watching. I went to their Facebook page and they claim they received threatening phone calls over the matter. It wasn't until AFTER they were losing 35-0, and AFTER they made a scene with a parking lot spectator, that they decided they were receiving threatening phone calls and to cancel the game.2 points

Take the ISD out of the equation. The money shouldn't belong to the ISD, it should belong to the student that we the public pay taxes to educate. The poor inner city kid 9th grader Sam has broke parents and lives in a terrible district. Let's call it "Cesspool isd". Sam hates cesspool isd because the kids are terribly behaved, steal, cheat, fight, and all read on a kindergarten level. The school is not challenging to him and the teachers are forced to babysit and teach down to the class level. Down the street is Heaven private/ charter school. They are the top school in the country and Sam would like to attend there. It would further his education greatly and increase his academic and professional outcomes. Under your current system Sam is forced by you and politicians to attend cesspool. No options. Under a voucher program Sam may take the local and state taxes that pay for his education at cesspool and move them and himself to heaven school. Or not, the choice belongs to him and his parents. In this scenario, Sam and his family and society all recieve tremendous benefit at 0 additional cost from him being allowed voucher to heaven school. Under your system, Sam, his family and society all are punished with 0 taxpayer savings, just so that the ISD can retain money that they don't deserve. We can all see the benefits to the student in this scenario. Under your system what student benefits?2 points

Playoffs? Waskom, Elysian Fields, Hughes Springs, and Harleton will be the playoff teams. Only the Chinese virus could change this. QC has 0 chance to win these games on the field. Playoffs man that's hilarious.2 points

I started out at Canton radio and they had a site called Lonestarteams.com while in college ..Did weekly shows just like now but was a 5A-4A and a 3A-2A show...Chase Colston was one co host and Randy Johnson came over and was a co host a couple of times..I then moved to Marshall and did the same format for a couple of sites till relocating to DFW then bringing Grant on as the co host. I used to do PbP all across East Texas for many years..Did almost all of Gilmer's playoffs games their first state run including state. Grant and I in 2008 called both 3A state title games including Carthage and the last HS game played at Texas Stadium. The famous SLC vs Trinity game...I basically lived at Texas Stadium doing playoff games from 2003-2008 when it closed. We had an East Texas show called The bEast Texas report last year and Jack Stallard of LNJ was my weekly but COVID killed sales so until we get a sponsor that show is on break but I for sure want to bring it back1 point

I don't think (most) educators are the enemy. I think indoctrinators who pose as educators are bad. BTW...since we home school, should we get some of that tax money back?1 point

Hutchings said in a statement, “I can confirm that our family made a decision to change my daughter’s school this school year. Decisions like these are very personal family decisions and are not taken lightly. This in no way impacts my absolute lifelong, commitment to public education, to which I remain as personally dedicated as ever.” lol, this dude. Wow "very personal family decision",....... Unless you're poor, then it's a politician/ teacher association decision1 point

Never questioned the legality. Adultery is legal, but I don't support it. I agree that most do pay, but the point i was trying to make is if I rent the cheapest dump in town do I pay enough in taxes to cover the cost of my kids education? The answer is no, so therefore we as a collective tax base pay to educate our collective group of kids. I myself as a taxpayer am willing to pay my taxes and allow all kids to spend that allotment of tax money at whatever school they feel best fits their educational needs? I can't understand how that is a problem.1 point

The loser of this game will be hard pressed to make the playoffs. I think Alto gets it going after gutting it out against Grapeland after falling 20-0 in the 1st qtr essentially. Give me Alto in the mild upset.1 point

Is there a recourse for reporting pitiful officiating? The crew we had officiating this past Friday night were horrible. Confused about nearly every flag they threw and the resulting penalty. They were worse than the guys officiating the DF game.1 point
