  1. VP Pence ate her alive ... both with presentation and factually ....

  2. I mean, they do hold, all the time. And this would be the equivalent of saying "Do not hold, not even in the parking lot. If you do hold, we're going to call the game at halftime." You can say what you wish about "rules" but it's too far. If you can't stand outside the fence, outside the stadium, and watch the game without a mask, then it's gone too far. The police literally wouldn't even detain him because it was so ridiculous. That's not even why they called the game, but I have my own reservations about that even being true. I can imagine the superintendent was pretty upset when the police pretty much told him that it was stupid. Perfect excuse to go on our power trip after everyone, including the man standing probably 50+ feet from the nearest human being told you how imbecilic that is.

  4. The guy wasn't even inside the stadium. This is ridiculous. Cancel a game because of a fan who won't put on a mask who isn't even inside the gate but yet it's ok to let kids play a game with no mask or social distancing. That makes tons of sense.

  8. I don’t disagree with you at all. We are allowed to make whatever choices we want. I choose to do whatever is asked of me to be able to go watch my family participate on Friday nights.

  9. Sure, having a President saying he’s going to raise taxes (btw, you can forget that $400K bs), appoint “Hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15”, Beto to gun control, and Bernie to Healthcare. That’ll make me want to vote for him.

  12. Where do you personally draw the line at “just follow the rules”? What if the school says you can’t sit next to your black friend? What if it says you have to wear sit the whole time without making any noise? What if it says for the safety of others, you have to watch from your car in the parking lot? you understand why there are people who don’t want to become a society of “just follow the rules”, right? Its unAmerican...

  13. The taxpayers pay the property taxes for the school grounds which to me is different from abiding by someone’s personal residence rules.

  14. I mean, if my son was on that field, and I didn't agree with why I was being asked to leave, especially when I'm not doing anything wrong really, I can't say I'd be so peaceful about it either. I'd probably throw in a few words, make it known I pay my taxes and it's a public school, and I'd probably make them show me where it's a rule that I have to wear a mask even if I'm standing outside the fence being a threat to absolutely nobody. That's just my opinion. Hope it never comes to that here.

  15. Many laws we have are just that. Inconsistent and sometimes make little sense. Again I am not arguing that the rule is good or bad. But it is a rule on the school's grounds. He is a visitor, he should follow their rules. I compare this to when I go to someone's house I abide by their rules even if I think they might have a dumb rule or two.

  17. What a joke. The man was standing outside the fence watching. I went to their Facebook page and they claim they received threatening phone calls over the matter. It wasn't until AFTER they were losing 35-0, and AFTER they made a scene with a parking lot spectator, that they decided they were receiving threatening phone calls and to cancel the game.

  18. Take the ISD out of the equation. The money shouldn't belong to the ISD, it should belong to the student that we the public pay taxes to educate. The poor inner city kid 9th grader Sam has broke parents and lives in a terrible district. Let's call it "Cesspool isd". Sam hates cesspool isd because the kids are terribly behaved, steal, cheat, fight, and all read on a kindergarten level. The school is not challenging to him and the teachers are forced to babysit and teach down to the class level. Down the street is Heaven private/ charter school. They are the top school in the country and Sam would like to attend there. It would further his education greatly and increase his academic and professional outcomes. Under your current system Sam is forced by you and politicians to attend cesspool. No options. Under a voucher program Sam may take the local and state taxes that pay for his education at cesspool and move them and himself to heaven school. Or not, the choice belongs to him and his parents. In this scenario, Sam and his family and society all recieve tremendous benefit at 0 additional cost from him being allowed voucher to heaven school. Under your system, Sam, his family and society all are punished with 0 taxpayer savings, just so that the ISD can retain money that they don't deserve. We can all see the benefits to the student in this scenario. Under your system what student benefits?

  33. Saw them in Austin in 1988 during the OU812 Tour. I was a student at UT at the time and worked at the Frank Erwin Center as security. I was usually stationed in front of the stage or near the band's sound board in the front-center. I was at the sound board for this concert. i always had great "seats"!

  34. This is my 39th year broadcasting Jacksonville football. No doubt, it has been a tough decade for ‘Jacksonville. I will say, however, the 80s was a pretty bad decade for ‘Jacksonville as I broadcasted the games then, too. The 1970s were great. Then the 1990s arrived and the run went to 2010 or so. @LoboFan07 and @Cat51993I’ve been following high school football since the early 1970s and what I know is every program has its cycles. Sure, some towns never seem to have a down cycle like Longview, Carthage, Lufkin, Gilmer, etc. Jax will be back, some good classes coming. Unfortunately, we have had several classes in the last 10 years decimated by bad decisions by kids— the great players. Extra curricular activities are a privilege and we have had several potential college players throw it away. Frustrating, every town has this, but we have had our fair share. I love our current staff. It is NOT them. It wasn’t the previous staff’s fault, or the one before that one. This current staff has to be one of the hardest working staffs I’ve ever been around. I go to practice, I see it. Shorter answer: if you don’t behave, you don’t get to play. We have 6 juniors on varsity. That’s it. A whole class wiped out by bad decisions and misbehavior. Programs can’t thrive when the best athletes wipe their classes out. Don’t count us out in 2020. We do need to have some kids step up though or it’ll be tough in our district.

  35. I do get what you're saying though. I still feel like Texas has been sub-par, even to historic standards. I also feel like a playoff should consist of more than 4 teams.

  37. Never questioned the legality. Adultery is legal, but I don't support it. I agree that most do pay, but the point i was trying to make is if I rent the cheapest dump in town do I pay enough in taxes to cover the cost of my kids education? The answer is no, so therefore we as a collective tax base pay to educate our collective group of kids. I myself as a taxpayer am willing to pay my taxes and allow all kids to spend that allotment of tax money at whatever school they feel best fits their educational needs? I can't understand how that is a problem.

  38. Dude, my comprehension is just fine, but apparently I'm struggling to make myself clear. Planned parenthood is tax dollars to kill babies but whatever. What about the people who don't pay property tax. Who pays for their education?

  39. I'm starting to understand your logic.... Woman wants to murder her unborn baby= her choice She wants to educate her kid to a better school= not her choice. Makes perfect sense.

  40. Spank? Lol, because he can't comprehend does not translate to spank. I attended public school. I have family that teach in public school. My dad taught in public school. I actually like and support most public schools. And none of that takes away from the FACT that a choice for kids and their families is better than no choice.

  41. Unfortunately, I don't think Herman, or really any coach for that matter, will get replaced after this season. Everyone is going to suffer a loss money wise in schools/athletic departments. I'm for Urban, but unfortunately I'm not sure if that would happen. I think Gus Malzhan would kill it at Texas.

  42. Texas is frustrating to watch. I have gotten to a point where it is excruciating to watch the Horns play. I would enjoy watching them if I knew that they had no chance at all to win and I would enjoy watching them if a win was a no brainer. But to sit and watch them game in and game out knowing that just one or two plays determine a game is stressful. They have the overall talent but something always happens. I was really hoping that Herman was going to be the guy but he does not seem to be so. I just want consistency and it is simply not there. All schools go through down times and Texas is sort of in that period now. However, if you look at their overall record it is not entirely out of the norm. Too many people have "recent" memory of the Vince and Colt years. While enjoyable, it was way too quick. As a Longhorn alum and fan I have suffered more that I have celebrated it seems though there has been one National Championship and and two near misses ('83 and '09). I was too young in the late '60's and early '70's to care! How to find sustainability? Who is going to be the next Saban? Is it Sweeney? Do you sell your soul and go with Urban? If not these three then who? The person is out there but at this time it is unknown. Unfortunately time is an enemy when looking for that person. Lastly, UT-Austin is not driven to win football games like Alabama and some other schools are. Sports is not UT's focus or identity as a school. The demographics have changed and will continue to do so as the academic standards are high and will continue to be so so the kids being admitted to the school really are not so focused on sports (football). They are there for a world-class education. This will only get worse over time IMO.
