Run game was on point last night. Williams and Cabada continue to improve. Really impressed with #21’s long speed last night. He looked like the fastest kid on the field and was making 1 cut and getting north and south in a hurry. As usual cotton84’s input was spot on. Using #3 out of the backfield some last night was something that looks like it’s going to be a big part going forward. He looked good coming out of the backfield. I liked those swing passes to him and it also looks like he is the best option on those jet sweeps. This offense will continue improving as they get more experienced, but all the fans should be excited about what they saw last night. I know I was.

Both teams are playing after Friday, so I hope no one gets hurt right before the playoffs begin.

You would have to give the new Head Coach some slack here. He was told he would have to hire 3-4 coaches and as it turned out he had to hire 10. With that I don't really know but heard he was still short 3 coaches on the Varsity staff. To me it didn't really make sense hiring an assistant coach from a 6A school who did have previous head coaching experience with a 22-40 record. Sounded more like a Supt. hiring a buddy from the past. Additionally, it didn't appear to be any momentum during the season. The defense gives up 28 first half points to Lindale and close out the game losing 28-21. No win but should be a half to give you confidence for the next ball game. Then you lose to Palestine (1-2 at the time) 38-28. Then you lead Kilgore 34-21 in the 2nd half only to lose 35-34 but another momentum building loss to a very good team. Then come back to the next game with still a good chance to make the playoffs and lose to Mabank who has not been in the playoffs since John Kennedy was President. A lackluster effort at best. I would have to agree with what someone else said .... poor coaching and poor preparation against weaker opponents. I will say that both of the coach's sons are good athletes and the QB made some great plays to give the Lions a chance to win those games. It still all came down to being able to play winning defense and winning the battle in the trenches on both sides of the ball. Until the Henderson coaches develop a better offensive line and a defense that can stop somebody then we will continue see the same.... a below-average 4A team.

I don’t trust King to make the right decisions at all. We’re a mess this season. Only thing saving us is having played horrendous teams. Could see us winning by 25, and also losing by 3. Just sad all this talented is being wasted.

If both teams come out healthy then it doesn’t really matter who wins this one. Probably seeing the rematch in about 4 weeks and that is the one that will matter.

I didn’t think about that comparison, but you are right! I think #3 might even have a little more speed than Colbert. If he is 75% of what Colbert was in the playoffs in 2017, than he is going to be a weapon!

I’m taking Lindale by a score. Kilgore is good but I think people are over looking Lindale a bit. Lindale could easily be 8-1 had they been able to finish early in the year. They have learned/improved tremendously since the losses.

I am most interested in Texas/Baylor… although MSU and Michigan might actually be watchable

I Was impressed at Madisonville’s pass defense last evening more than any other aspect of their team. Also, the QB has a decent arm; too bad they didn’t throw more passes earlier in the game. Too much emphasis on their ground game was their undoing. As I said earlier, NOBODY is going to Run on Preston’s Defense .

I am a Shelbyville guy, and Joaquin is our enemy. Not so much me personally. I think some rivalries go too far and the Shelbyville/Joaquin rivalry is redonkulous!! In the midst of the madness I have watched Joaquin play quite a lot, and in my opinion they are the most stubborn bunch I've ever seen! For years now they have had too many fast athletic kids to run that ancient offense where everybody goes up the middle. They generally have a nice stock of behemoth type linemen as well!

I was at this game tonight. I want the Rams to do well. Sadly, Joaquin has no offensive creativity. Numbers 3, 5 and 7 are badly misused due to the offensive scheme. I totally understand why Joaquin runs this offense, but you have to throw out of it more often and the dives are just wasted plays. It was difficult to watch a wad of humanity on rushes directly into the heart of the Timpson defense go for no gain or negative yardage over and over and over again. All three of the players referenced above could be quality receivers if they were in a different system.

I don't know how you could be seeing all the new developments going up. I knew when they built the new high schools so to speak that the numbers would increase. You have to think about this. Those numbers don't include the early college and rise students.

Just my opinion, so nobody get in their feels. The difference between last years Gunter, and what I have seen this year is attitude. Gunter has always been the toughest/scrappiest team we have played. Like Canadian, they aren’t ever the biggest, but they are always the “meanest”. Last years team did not seem to have the whole “TPW” mentality that they have had in the past. They had more speed and skill players, but it almost seemed like they bought into their own hype last year. Hell they were making TikTok videos in the locker room before our game. From what I have seen on film this year, that is not the case. They definitely seem to have their edge back. Will be fun to watch it unfold, and hopefully we can be there. If not, I’ll support GT the rest of the way!

I have no doubt Center will put Rusk in their place in two weeks. A district record of 3-2 will lock the Eagles in 3rd place.
