The biggest problem [even outside of schools] it that it is always another person's fault. Maybe your kid just isn't good enough to be a starter regardless of what grade they are in? Maybe it is your kid's fault that he is failing and not the teachers? Maybe it is your fault that your kid has behavior issues?8 points

Ever since a shift that happened from it being the kids and parents responsible and Admin actually helping. To today where its all the teachers fault and Admin put more and more on teachers plate and don't protect the teachers from parents. All this causes burnout and really good people leaving the profession.7 points

It’s not just small districts struggling to fill positions, it’s a problem in bigger ones too. And not just that, we have a work problem period. FedEx can’t get enough workers to get deliveries on time, food services have “now hiring” plastered everywhere…it’s an issue finding people who want to actually put forth effort. There have also been some self-inflicted wounds in the coaching community. Used to, if a coach wanted a raise they went into admin. Now some of the stipends are high enough coaches can stay in coaching longer and get their numbers up. Because of that, you now have that administrator who has 3 years of kindergarten experience working their way up the administrative ladder and it’s helped to turn education at local levels into more of a dog and pony show than education really needs to be. I’m glad coaches are getting paid better, but this is going to be a growing problem. One administrator I’ve heard of in Katy ISD struggled with 1st graders and was a high school campus principal. Instead of holding kids accountable it was always “what are you doing to engage those struggling students?” How many former coaches can you hear saying that? We’re also in a stretch of the entitled coach who has never had to grind through anything and if they’re told no they quit and go pout. We’ve also reached a level of select ball fever that coaches can do what they want job wise and take on a “stipend” of whatever they want to charge for their players. Realistically there are a lot of factors contributing to the educator shortage and I’m afraid that unless our mindset changes as a nation it’s going to get worse…even in Texas.4 points

I have to say, McFall looks crazy good. Part of the reason that I have LV and JT finishing top 2 in the district is simply because...those two programs may have the top two players in the district (Hale/McFall/Tatum).4 points

There isn't a place dark or hot enough in Hell for those who go after children. I'm not even a coach and I've got to put up with that ####.3 points

The parents today are what's wrong with this country. They blame everyone else and think the world is against their angels when they get in trouble for actually doing illegal things or acting up in school and such. When I was coming up you got in trouble in school or out in public, you had it coming again when you got home3 points

What information do you have to support that he is coming back? Nothing. Stop being delusional. He will not, I repeat he will not be back at JT. For those of you are slow (only 1 person).2 points

Exactly they are grooming them to make a choice to be gay so they can be in their eyes part of the "cool" "hip" "in" crowd, and they want to fit in to be popular. Even if they are groomed into choosing to be gay the teachers are now going against the parents wishes. Elementary school teachers say 'no' to parents' wishes they refer to students by pronouns given at birth (msn.com)2 points

I can get behind this, but only for a HC. Something else I wouldn’t mind is letting new coaches sign as many players as they want as long as they stay under the 85 man limit. You wanna overhaul your team and sign 40 kids? Fine by me. I think new coaches should be allowed to “clean house” the same way that kids are allowed to jump ship.2 points

Yeah CUJO got some firepower no doubt. That's exactly how we feel in Loboland. This '22 squad is even deeper than the '18 squad that won it all.....and this year is the beginning of a string of Lobo teams that we will remember forever. Not saying that we're about to go out and win 10 straight state titles or anything....that ain't earned on paper but we will definitely be among the top 2-3 teams in TX for the foreseeable future. I mean this year, I get: • Taylor Tatum (#1 RB in TX, #3 RB in the nation for the '24 class according to 247) • Alijah Johnson (another dominant '24 back) • Deep and talented WR group headlined by: - '23 Jalen Hale (#1 WR in TX, #7 WR in the nation according to 247) - '24 DK Reese (UTSA offer, 6'2 175) - '23 Jartaivan Wright (DI prospect, 6'4 190, started a year ago) • Bigger, more talented, more experienced OL. RG Blair Williams (6'3 330) is a DI prospect. • '24 Jaymerson Darensbourg (6'2 200) looks like the next dominant TE The D is arguably the best side of the ball.... I'll write a novel about em later on when I get time but potential sack and INT record holders are on this side of the ball...that alone tells the story. Michael Fields back at kicker/punter too?! Man...2 points

The QB that is going to Tech moved there in JH didn't he? That is why he didn't have eligibility issues. The 1-year rule was in effect.2 points

Huge Positive Influence on many lives. Was fortunate enough to play for him in HS. Take a look at the amount of current HS Coaches that played for him.....tells you all you need to know about The Man!!2 points

If your talking to kids about sex or sexual preference, you are grooming them. Should be on the closest tree for child abuse.2 points
-
I think that number is a little high... It's definitely a part of grooming. I will agree that teacher may not be grooming that student for themselves, but it is grooming them in to a future relationship. In this instance instead of a single person grooming a child for their future abuse, it is a systematic grooming handled by many people.2 points

My family is living proof of that. My oldest son hasn't spoken to me or his mom in nearly a year. He was treated horrible and would just stay in his room while in HS. I guess its my fault as well.2 points

That's an unnecessary amount. Nobody getting adequate amount of snaps to gain chemistry and timing. Coaches tend to over think it sometimes. We have a 3 horse race, and 1 has been THE guy in my eyes for a while now....but here we are.2 points

It's been awhile since we did this but would like to know if we can compile a list of members who want to be the beat reporter for a specific district and/or team. Your insight and stories, game previews and/or summaries would be featured on a special link on Smoaky.com. Of course I don't have enough money to pay you but there are other ways including gift cards from local restaurants or a Smoaky.com tee-shirt featuring you as a "Beat Reporter." And, if you wear one you can either get a "damn, that's so cool," or you might need to duck. Who knows? But, interested in your feedback. Smoaky1 point

Well if walls and fences do not work, then why would the US government be placing them around the Supreme Court Building in Washington DC?1 point

Yeah Fields is one of the best kept secrets in TX at the kicker position. I do know that DI's have acquired but no one has pulled the trigger yet.1 point

He's been going to camps and working out pretty steady in the offseason. Kid looks money.1 point

I think it’s the simplest solution. Kids still get their NIL, but you want out you have to earn it by sitting out a year.1 point

I honestly believe that the NCAA realizes it’s a dying institution. Mark Emmert seen the writing on the wall and bounced. Multi year investigations into programs leading to a 1 or 2 scholarship loss penalty. Allowing the NIL without any rules in place as far as what was or wasn’t allowed. I’m ready for the NFL Jr super conference league. These teams that want to play student athletes can schedule the Ivy League for their NC. Give me the blue bloods playing week in and week out with a roster full of the best players money can buy.1 point
-
I’d be on board with that. Honestly, the NCAA should fire every single employee and let a representative from each school in their respective division make the rules and govern changes1 point

One of my good buddies is a coach and the stuff they deal with is ridiculous at times. Parents acting/talking crazy...crazy hours...average to low pay...politics within the admin/school board (depending on where you're at) Parents think they can do a better job....maybe they should fill out an application.1 point
