2.) Sadly, I like the Mark Richt comparison. He’s done a good job recruiting but the results aren’t there. 5 years in, coming off #1 recruiting class and we let App State dominate us in TOP. The frustrating thing is financially his buyout has hamstrung us and that’s totally on Ross Bjork. If you wanted to find your Kirby Smart you couldn’t unless you did a bunch of digging to find a at cause reason. Going on a 9-1 run rest of season won’t be enough to get the taste of this loss out my mouth. This is the loss that’s going to haunt Jimbo for rest of his A&M career. When things end App State is going to be when the support and perception of Jimbo shifted for most of A&M faithful. I’m not exactly thrilled with the work our assistant coaches are doing either. Dameyune Craig’s work with the QBs is starting to look like he’s back coaching WR’s. Steve Addazio is making me wonder if we can’t coach OL or our evaluation process on OL kids is faulty. Our Co-OC Darrell Dickey bless his heart is 62 years old. This offense plays like it’s Kirt and Hardin waiting on tapioca pudding at the senior center. DJ Durkin couldn’t get App State’s offense off the field. 1 sack, no turnovers. Jimbo has a week before Miami. He can’t fix all the issues but he darn well better fix the important ones. Can he? Will he? We’ll see.4 points

And with all the known Terrorist crossing Biden’s open border (42 identified so far) we can look for a similar attack in the near future. Does Joe, and the other Democrats care? Evidently not. If they did they’d close the border. https://www.gop.gov/42-suspected-terrorists-have-been-apprehended-at-our-southern-border-since-biden-took-office/2 points

More quick thoughts after this week... Question, Just how good is...McKinney North? 3-0 for the first time since 2015. Strength of schedule may not jump at you so far, but they're handling up on these teams like theyre supposed to and we're about to find out about the Bulldogs this week as they travel to Lancaster. In the meantime, the MN offense has been the most explosive offense in the district, not named Longview. No one has been able to stop D1 RB Jayden Walker yet. Through 3 games, Walker is averaging a whopping 221 rushing yards per game, which is leading the district by far. Very interesting game going down in Lancaster Friday. JR QB Colin Hitchcock visited Texas Tech today. Quietly lurking is...West Mesquite. 3-0 start for the first time since 2017, while outscoring their opponents on average of 48-16 so far. We have not given West Mesquite enough talk so far...but personally...I'm not sold yet because the SOS is so bad. Every team that WM has faced this year is winless, except Chisholm Trail who has 1 win. I'm not falling for the bait and I think most others feel the same. But if West is going to get us off the fence, a win against a decent Forney squad certainly would help the cause. Another solid opening week matchup in this district. 200...total wins that Coach John King at Longview now has after that 69-0 thrashing of rival Tyler Legacy. Major milestone reached by Coach K, who is always quick to give the Longview community its props for the football program seeing the consistency that it has. It takes a village for sure, but it also takes a competent leader to have that much success. Congrats to Coach King, plenty more wins to come. Coach K is going for win 201 against...a surging Lufkin team that could be game of the week not only in this district, but the region. Lufkin is 3-0 for the first time since John Outlaw was here. There have been opportunities for Lufkin to hit 3-0 since then numerous times, but a certain program has been a thorn in their side and that program is coming to Abe Martin Friday night with a #1 ranking, and rolling. Here's what's weird. IMO, Lufkin typically doesn't get better as the season progresses in the Todd Quick era, but every now and then, Lufkin pops up with a 2012 or 2017....which are 5 years apart. 2022 is 5 years from 2017...so could this be another one of those teams? We'll see, but expecting a sold out game at Abe Friday (I'm even flying in for it lol) You absolutely do not want to lose this week if you're...North Mesquite or Tyler High...who play one another in an important game at Rose Friday night. Loser can pretty much hang it up because things only become way more challenging moving forward for both teams. Tyler High has been an interesting story so far this season. There was a lot of optimism for that program coming into the season. With all of the talented players that CUJO had returning, DCTF even had them tabbed as a top 25 squad who could compete for a district title. 4 weeks later, they're still searching for their first win and things don't get any easier with North Mesquite coming to town. NM is 1-2, so the Stallions have a ton to prove on their end as well because like Tyler, the Stallions also have a talented roster that doesn't really match the record.2 points

1) I don’t think he is, but I do expect it’s who Jimbo will use. If Jimbo has a real OC with modern era football IQ he would realize that A&M needs to simplify the playbook and let the naturally better QB prospect be really good at 30% of the playbook than just barely able to execute 80%. It’s foolish. Especially with a really young group of WRs who are running limited amounts anyway. Let all the freshman grow together and let your athletes just be athletes. 2.) No. someone on the Aggies site called it perfect. Jimbo is Mark Richt. Excellent recruiter that can build your program and recruit but will always find ways to just not cross over the hump.2 points

2 titans of 3A football meet for the first time ever this week in Brock. Brock probably the best 0-3 team in the state having played a very tough schedule. Gunter coming in at 2-0 with 2 blowout wins over Cedar Hill TLC & Trinity Christian Addison. Brock has home field & should be hungry!1 point

Hate to say it but I agree. I love the old school style of football of running hard and playing tough defense to smother teams like Bama used to do in 08-12. But Saban moved away from it for a reason. Which is why I say that I think a lot of our problems can be solved.1 point

Cowboys should be running the ball… this is a product of not having your 1’s doing any pre-season significant snaps in the 3rd pre-season game.1 point

The more I see it the the more I come around to the belief that I don’t want my head coach calling plays (offense or defense) on game days. It’s real easy to get centered in on one issue on one side of the ball and let the others fall through the cracks. Hand over play calling duties. Focus your attention on the entire team.1 point

This is my biggest issue. I mentioned LSU losing to Troy in 2018 and winning it all in 2019. They did this because they had an elite Sr QB and hired a couple of offensive coaches that took them to the next level. I think Jimbo needs to hire a play caller and a new OL coach. Do this and a strong & maturing defense next season puts all the pieces in place. Now, will he do this? I don’t know…1 point

A lot of the injuries (in my humble opinion) are because of the nature of the slot t, or wing t, style. There are so many moving parts bunched in tight. The Rams have had a lot of success with this style for a long time and the current bunch is a tough group that will be hard to beat! As a fan of the game though I would like to see some balance.1 point

I only compared them to 2001 because they had so many coming back. I did say 2001 wasn't this bad though. 2001 under achieved. This team will definitely under achieve. They could turn it around but I doubt it.1 point

If I’m not mistaken, since youth league up til now he’s only lost two games, both of those in the last two years to Shiner…..he’s on a mission. He’s also one of the most humble kids you could ever meet. Always gives shout outs to his team mates. Hard to beat that in a leader.1 point

One player does not make a team, you have to play with who you have, etc.........But Cornerstone not having their starting QB is a huge difference...........Watching him throw in pregame made it obvious he can sling it......And number 7 is a heckuva high school reciever/runner Cornerstone's DB's might be the best Carthage sees all year - they covered well(with a couple of exceptions) for a long time, but finally got wore down from their offense going 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out. I think Carthage made another small leap tonight toward their goal, and played better than the first 2 weeks.1 point
